its true. i dont see them doing it more so because of the money he makes them, and less because of the return they could get. even if yao doesn't play he makes them money.

the same could be said about tmac. i think this is why they are still holding on to him unless another jersey seller is available.

Brief talks between Hou and Phx, TMac 4 JRich. Couldn't get #s to work. No talk since I'm told.

You mean they haven't called you offering TMac? Because they've called just about everybody else

What would they have to give us for Ron & WTFu** would we want to trade with SA?

Luis Scola is the only good thing to come out of there in a slighted trade ever.

Why let out the news about Yao's foot right now? To make us look somewhat desperate.

Usually, in negotiations, you don't want to make yourself look needy, but if you're selling something that the other side doesn't think you should be selling, you need to give them some reason why you have to sell. Otherwise, they suspect something is wrong with your merchandise.

Like, "Damn, we REALLY didn't want to have to trade McGrady, seeing how it's his contract year, and we just KNOW he's going to explode, but there's this thing with Yao's foot, so..."

BTW, I think the injury report might be exaggerated.

Look guys, Steve Kerr is a terrible GM and is probably still recovering from his ruffie-colada that Danny Ferry slipped him during that Shaq for trash trade.

We need to keep AB, send them Cook's expiring and steal that 14th pick!

Tmac, Landry, Cook (haha hey its possible with Morey at the table) for STAT, barbosa and the 14th.

We resign Artest to 10-12MM (yes, we have his bird rights so we can go over the LT) and Von.

Draft best available at 14th and then trade it + Barry's expiring for a top selected guard to a team who wants to pay less for a 1st rounder and needs cap space. Brandon Jennings anyone?

Play out the season. If artest has a good/decent year, we can trade him AND aaron brooks for...someone like Joe Johnson. ATL will want that trade, and the contracts should match, granted we give Artest that kind of money.

    Lowry/Jennings
    Joe Johnson/Barbosa/Wafer
    Battier/James White
    STAT/Scola
    Yao/Hayes/Dorsey

Oh yeah, we'd still have room for another player with the left over MLE.

Hey, one can dream right? :D

i disagree. but if true, that would be a very sad reflection of our ownership.

I have a feeling we'll get the 14th pick, which will land our new PG

Wow, just looked at the page, I've never seen his page before so was this his pick for awhile?

If he really did just change it, this is really huge haha.

Some dumb posters here were asking questions like what teams could possibly want Ron Artest as if to say he were no good anymore.

Teams that have no leadership qualities or a veteran foundation should not seek Artest -- that I agree with -- but there are several teams, coaches, and stars that Artest could thrive playing alongside with. San Antonio and Dallas a couple in the mix.

Bingo! I'm not saying this is THE hold-up, but people tend to gloss over the fact that Carl Landry MUST consent to any trade involving him before late September (the one year anniversary of the date his offer sheet from Charlotte was matched by the Rockets). Daryl Morey and the Rockets front office may be trying to avoid a "Devean George situation" like the Mavs encountered with the first iteration of the Jason Kidd deal. After George refused his consent, the Mavs had to scramble to re-work the trade (including having to re-sign the retired Keith Van Horn to a lucrative new contract) and it ended up costing Mark Cuban an extra $11M.

I don't mind giving up our young pieces for Amare if he signs an extension with us. I'm confused on if he wants someone to give him one now, or if he wants to be in the 2010 bonanza. If he is willing to sign an extension then he is clearly worth what we are giving up. The only reason he is coming so cheap now is because leagues are giving dudes away to save $$....

who knows. its just my best guess as to the team's thinking.

the recession hit les' company and investments hard apparently, making the rockets his most valuable asset. i'm sure a large part of that value is yao ming.

i'm sure les cares about winning, but he must care more about protecting his fortune if push came to shove. it's understandable.

I highly doubt Morey will try and make a big trade in between conference rivals. Somehow that always seems to come back and bite us in the ass.

I'd think about a trade to maybe Philly, Charlotte, Orlando, Boston, or maybe just maybe even Portland......... maybe.

I don't think we're even close to rebuild mode. Usually, teams in rebuild mode make trades to get expiring contracts and/or young studs. We have one of the biggest expiring contracs and they're trying to move that, along with some young studs to get anestablished player. Those are not signs of rebuilding. Those are moves by a GM thats trying to get his team over that hill.
