if true, IMHO, the implications of shopping battier are fairly obvious - morey sees the writing on the wall for the Yao era (the end of the Yao-TMac era already a foregone conclusion obviously) and is welcome to a full-blown rebuilding. You don't shop the heart and soul of your team (Battier) if you're confident in the course your team is taking.

 

The trade makes more sense if the Rockets were getting Nash in return. Where's the logic in trading a PF for another and giving up our better PG?

 

If they are throwing in Shane's name then that def. means we are re-signing Artest right.

 

you get what you can for him before he's completely worthless. remember, he can opt out next year if he wants a long term deal... if the rockets aren't sure about paying, someone else will and we get nothing but scraps in a S&T.

if he's injured and chooses to accept the final year of his contract since no one would offer him that amount of money, he becomes a large expiring, who's always injured, but is a money maker... similar in all ways to tmac now. and large endings who can still sell tickets and jerseys net big names like amare. but why would yao stay to be traded?

a trade this year (only if we land amare) is the only way to insure top dollar.

 

amare does have health issues... so does landry. both of thier knee injuries can return at any moment or not at all...

i'd still rather have the uber talented one out of the two.

 

i dont think the Rockets are shopping Battier..I am sure if Morey contacted any of those teams about possible deals they maybe talked about getting Battier in return.

Ford just reported that Battier was a possible piece but he didnt say what side of the table brought up that name. IMO the only true untouchable is Yao but Luis and Shane are pretty untouchable as well unless you get an obvious upgrade for them (no one is going to complain if like danny granger comes here for shane + others)

 

oh, you're preaching to the choir regarding my personal stance. i just have my doubts whether it would ever come to that for the organization. they already were intent in their stance to not deal him (when doing so would have fetched a king's ransom). when the relative return is now drastically diminished, i can't see them now reversing on that position, even with his injury concerns.

 

I think the Spurs would want Ron Artest along with their newly acquired Richard Jefferson. Artest can take on Bowen's role.

This deal will happen. Morey has too much pressure to bring in an Allstar since San Antonio got a lot better. He would have to sign him too. Yao's injury situation just makes it have to happen. Amare will have to fill the Center Role to help Yao and work along Scola. Morey doesn't want to lose Aaron but since San Antonio STOLE RJ they lost that option. Please send Drajic.

 

Battier could be traded but I believe only if it nets a top 5 pick. Names being thrown around usually happens during draft day but I do hope the Rockets do not over do things. Trading so many pieces because it is like starting all over again.
