at this point, i just wish we could have hid that news, and trade yao for another all-star player and straight up lie to the other team about his injury ;) , but we can't as he has to take a physical :(

Good point. I also scratched my head when I heard it. Considering the timing of the draft, I thought news like this would make us sound weaker in discussions due to desperation.

If Morey finds a way to keep Brooks, that would be amazing...

I think this whole Yao foot not healing thing is overblown. I mean, it's freaking June! I'm pretty sure my 3rd year medical student sister can get that hairline fracture healed by October. I mean come on.

They may try to extort the Rockets for this, but it wont work, add another 8-12 weeks to the treatment and Yao is still back before the season.

Maybe because it is irrelevant because the deal is already DONE. As someone suggested, news on Yao was leaked to pave the acceptance of Amare.

But you don't let that info out the day of the draft. Its stupidity.

The Suns have told me that they are probably done moving players for now, but I guarantee they move some draft picks later Thursday. They now have 3 second round picks and will use one or more to try and trade up to get a guy they want most likely at the end of the first round or early second round.

I know they really have their eye on Taj Gibson from USC.

As far as the 14th pick, I don't think they have their mind made up yet on who they will pick. I think they are hoping one of their guys falls to them at 14. Or I could see them moving this pick as well if their guy is not there!

Pretty sure Doc is saying there is "more" to this deal then we know right now.

What other assets do the Suns have?

oh im all over it too. the same post you quoted from me i said no other tmac deal will get us a player that young or potent offensively. you've gotta do it.

but, i would follow it up by seeing what offers we would get for yao.

We get to try it for one year and then decide! How do you decide who deserves the max-- simply by minutes played or effectiveness on the outcome of games?

Yao is more valuable to us playing limited but meaningful minutes throughout the season and playoffs than were we to lose him by the tail end of the season due to injury.

I read page 1 and 2 and skipped to the end, so apologies if this has already been said.

I'm a big AB fan. His freakish speed and quickness, you could argue, give us a unique advantage against some teams (i.e. Lakers), and brings us much closer to other teams (i.e. Hornets, Jazz, etc.) where before we were way behind. That said, he's still a highly inconsistent young player, and has yet to prove that he can be an efficient scorer. I think he'll get better, but look deeper at Barbosa...

He's basically AB 6'3 and a few years older. He is pretty much just as quick. He seems to have similar, heck if not better, assist / turnover numbers. And to top it all off, he is a much much much more efficient scorer. Morey is a stat guy. Solid, capable efficient scorers help your offense in so many ways. Barbosa is a career 47% shooter, a career 40% 3 point shooter, a career 82% FT shooter.

Why people think Barbosa couldn't come in and at a minimum give you EXACTLY what Brooks gave you is odd.

    So, Brooks = Barbosa, Stoudemire >>> Landry, T-Mac throw-away.

The reason the deal likely hasn't gone down yet is because, while Stat is considerably better than Landry, he has been semi-injury prone, and Landry is at least a solid contributor whom, with more minutes, as a starter, would likely produce even more, so Morey is probably questioning whether "throwing away" T-Mac" is too much in the deal.

Something tells me this guy isn't exactly the equivalent to Mark Berman in PHX

Don't want to see brooks go, what "IF" big if Tmac come back strong for a contract year. Will he net us a bigger star in return as the trade deadline approach from desperate teams?

We need a guy that can create offense for the whole team. Amare is not the answer.

    nothing really.

they dont own their draft pick next season. their young players are lopez, dudley, and tucker. nothing great there as far as rebuilding.

amare, nash, barbosa, and jrich is about it. i wouldn't even consider jrich and his giant $12M salary a positive.

I am sure someone has mentioned this already but...

Maybe one of the reasons the deal hasnt gone through is because the Rockets postponing. Morey probably wants to make sure he can get a veteran pg (from another trade) or they pull out. He is pretty smart about making multiple moves to get the best value.

Another reason is the Suns dont want to be the team that trades Shaq and Amare on same day or close to each other.

Obviously Stoudemire is far superior to Landry, so I don't think T-Mac is just a throw-away piece of this trade. Yes PHX wants him for his expiring contract, but do you think if he has a "T-Mac of old" type season when he gets back they wont try to give him a contract?

amare has a bigger impact on the game than all the players we let go. he's going to be coached by a players' coach so he'll be fine.

now we just need to trade artest for a real playmaker (PG or not) and we'll be fine. artest and amare ain't gonna work well on the same team. amare finishes plays, so he needs guys who can make plays.

most likely tmac wont be ready to play until after the deadline. plus, amare is the answer to inside scoring since yao has become injury prone. he may not be worth a max extension next season, so if we decide to part ways we still have amare.

I think they're just waiting on Landry's consent....
