even still, i'm not crazy about amare. he's 26 which leaves maybe 4 years window. he doesn't play defense and is pretty selfish it seems. plus the injury risk... still, anyone else that tmac's contract can net us won't be nearly as young or potent offensively.

suppose this deal (or something similar) goes down, wouldn't you be interested to see what teams would offer for yao? i know i would.

Do it! This wont be the only move of the offseason ya'll know that right? Those of you that are saying don't, you make it sound like after we make this trade the season starts. Give Morey more credit than that. You guys know he will make one move that leads to another..... With Yao STILL NOT HEALED it makes it even more imperative to get a guy like Amare. He can start at PF and move over to backup C. Barbosa is a bigger version of brooks that can play backup SG and backup PG, and can score in bunches just as good. I'm fine with Lowry starting at PG. The only other thing I would like to see is another SG that can create. Artest playing heavy minutes at SG does not work.

You trade away our best playmaker, and the only other guy who can break somebody off the dribble for an overrated power forward and a good, but undersized scoring shooting guard to bring off the bench? On top of that you give them another quality power forward.

NO THANK YOU. Sure we get a jump shooting power forward and guy who looks at the floor when he dribbles. This is a HORRIBLE deal IMO for the Rockets.

Both of these guys flourished with Nash and D'Antoni, the same way Shawn Marion, Quentin Richardson, Boris Diaw, Raja Bell, Tim Thomas, and James Jones.

What have those guys done since they left Phoenix and Steve Nash? NOTHING. Joe Johnson was the one guy on that team that had any real basketball/leadership skills, and the idiot Suns let him walk...

Hey, who doesn't love running basketball. I've long ago wanted to relegate Yao to backup duty to preserve his effectiveness, i.e. avoid injury. No guarantee for sure but a greater likelihood of him remaining healthy with fewer minutes.

Let's run the floor for 8 minutes with Amare and bring Yao in to power inside against a tired starting center or a less-capable backup.

They will have to approach Landry for his approval before the deal goes down, you will hear the leak from his agent, probably, if it is going down.

I proposed it in another thread as a the "best"possible outcome in exchange for a hobbling McGrady. I'm not too keen about it myself, but these guys won't come with the headache that Amare will. At least, that's my hope.

Doesn't the timing of this presser on Yao seem odd to you? They couldn't wait a day after the draft?

I'm sure it's meant to warm over Rockets fans to the idea of trading for an injury prone malcontent.

Considering last night's revelation that Yao essentially has no window, I'm jumping all over this deal.

It does make a bit more sense now to add Amare, especially if Yao is going to miss time in terms of months instead of weeks.

Morey won't ever show his hand until its time to rake.

u GOTTA make this trade. we need another inside presence b/c yao will most likely go down again. and getting barbosa alleviates the pain of losing brooks.

from the way morey talked about tracy yesterday, the team is ready to let him go. landry is replaceable.

we need a trade BAD. but now we need to still get a playmaker though. maybe package artest + something for that player.

What I don't understand is how can the rockets let the information on Yao's foot leak out right before the draft. Somebody screwed up in letting that info out. Teams will know the rockets might need to make a move. Some heads may role for this.

This would be a great trade if this was for real.

Yes,that's how it sounds to me as well. He is not as injured as McGrady physically, but he comes with too much baggage.

makes sense, but yao wouldn't be worth the max in that case. better to trade him if we land amare.
