Yeah, I thought the whole point was for PHX to get under the luxury tax, and its not like they would waive any of those guys. They would probably add in a few scrubs to make it work, but I don't know.

I think a deal like this is more likely for both teams:

    PHX Trades:
    Amare
    J.Rich
    #14

    HOU Trades:
    Tracy
    Brooks
    Landry
    2010 1st

The deal works pretty much perfectly under the cap.

PHX gets 1 huge expiring and gets rid of 1 player that probably won't resign and 1 player with a bad contract. And gets 2 quality, cheap young players, who you might not build around but can definitely be key pieces for a rebuilding team.

HOU reeps the benefits of being in a position where they can be a buyer, they get Amare obviously, plus a true SG to fill the void they have had since McGrady got hurt, plus at 14 they could get a PG to replace Brooks, (Lowry would start though) maybe a Ty Lawson or Eric Maynor?

    You are waaaaaaay overreacting.

Acquiring Stoudemire for Landry is essentially far better for us than losing Brooks for Barbosa. Besides, who says we'd be done dealing after this who-knows-if-it's-true trade?

I dont think so though it might of been. I only learned of the trade during Mark Berman's sports cast. Before that, I myself really didnt hear anything about it.

I'm fine with this possible trade if it didnt include Brooks. I would really prefer to keep that kid.

    Highway robbery on the Suns.
Don't get why this much hate on Amare.
He's a huge upgrade over Landry while Barbosa is a Brooks with size.
As for Tmac, he's just a filler to make salaries match.
If we re-sign Ron/Von & draft a PG with the late 1st round pick, we got a solid 10 men rotation in:

    Yao/Amare
    Amare/Scola/Hayes
    Battier/Ron
    Ron/Barbosa/Von
    Barbosa/rookie/Lowry

How is this team worse than any of the ones we ever had since we drafted Yao?

In general, Iwould like to keep Brooks too. But anyone who thinks that Brooks is considerably better than Barbosa has major Rocket Blinders on. Plus, if this "deal" got us Amare for Landry??

Looking at this trade objectively, it would be a complete steal for the Rockets. I think fans on this board are overvaluing our young players just a bit.

Improve at PF. Improve at PG. Gain more space between luxury tax.

Yao Ming, Stoudemire, Battier, Artest, Barbosa

    Scola, Lowry off the bench.

Morey with a MLE and money to spend draft night.

Losing a very talented wing when healthy is a drawback, but not enough for the positives.

Has anyone here thought that we may be able to get a Kidd or Bibby after trading away our starting PG of last year's last half of the season?

We would finally have 2 real All Stars and a borderline star in Artest, who wouldn't want to join a team like that?

    Only time will tell....

I agree. Barbosa is better than J.Rich if you can look beyond size.

Agreed, I would have quoted W22's original post but got tired of searching, what has Barbosa done? Um, put up ridiculous numbers off the bench for a team that went to the Conference Finals (2005-06) and probably should/would have won the Championship if it weren't for the refs in the semi-finals Spurs series (2006-07).

The kid can score, and maybe can even be a pretty good PG, he's just never really had to be a PG because he had a 2-time MVP in front of him, but that's his fault right?

I still don't think Barbosa would be in the deal though.

I'm wondering if Morey is trying to get in on the Shaq trade, which I would guess will not become completely official until after the draft in order to allow a third team to jump in. The following variation of the Shaq trade would allow a T-Mac for Richardson swap:

    Cleveland gets: Shaquille O'neal

Phoenix gets: Tracy McGrady, Ben Wallace, #46 pick, $500k cash, Rockets' 2010 first rounder

Houston gets: Jason Richardson, Sasha Pavlovic

The Rockets could also take on another contract from Phoenix like Alando Tucker. Still, I doubt Phoenix agrees to this trade. Even though they get out from under Richardson's 2010-11 salary, they take on much more salary in this iteration of the trade than they would under the current two-way deal with Cleveland.

Just saying. The numbers work on this deal. (And the Rockets save several millions of dollars that can be used to re-sign Artest and/or Wafer.)

My feeling is this, if u want to make it work, u can.

    Tracy,Scola or Landry,Barry, Brooks or lowry= 29m

    to

Phoenix for amare and richardson =31m

with Barbosa going to Minny and phoenix gets a minny 2nd rd pick.

So phoenix sheds 37m and take back 29m. Houston gets sg and pf. Minny gets a young combo for a 2nd rd pick who can shoot and create space for jefferson. Its not that hard unless u make it.

You are telling me. Barbosa is a very efficient scorer, to the tune of 47% shooting for his career (48% last season) and 40% on 3's. That is great compared to what we are used to our guards shooting. He is also 3 inches taller than Brooks and averages over a steal a game. It is not like we are getting killed here. Obviously we would rather have Brooks who is two years younger and looked great in the playoffs.

Referring to that report that came from the same source that disclosed Porter's firing, the article also stated-

"Who do the Suns find a taker for first, Shaquille O'Neal or Amare Stoudemire? While The Big Aristotle is focused on finding someone to carry him to a fifth title -- Steve Nash couldn't do it, so now it's up to LeBron James to pick up where Kobe Bryant and Dwyane Wade left off -- Phoenix is talking to Houston about Stoudemire after being turned down by Washington (unsure) and Minnesota (even up for Richard Jefferson)."

Not sure if we'd even have money for them. We still have to resign Artest if things work out right(him wanting to be here and us wanting him)
