Umm Lowry is not a better point guard than Brooks.

When Amare is shooting something ridiculous like 65 percent... all you amare haters will be calling for a contract extension

I just don't get it. The salary cap don't work for this trade. So I suspect this rumor is false?

    $16,378,325 (Amare) + $6,600,000 (Barbosa) < $23,239,561 + $3,000,000 (Carl) + $1,118,520(Brooks)

This is like 4m+ differences, how is this works?

    With Shaq gone, Amare stays.

It works because it's less than 25% I think? 4 mil sounds like a lot but because it's 20+ mil, it's still less than 25%.

Eh, if they include Brooks I have mixed feelings. I prefer the Richardson - Tmac swap if they can add a 3rd team to make the numbers work.

Amare is still young and athletic, but an extension of his contract could make things look similar to McGrady. His negative attitude bears an uncanny resemblance. He could also demand to be traded during or after the season.
If Les wants this,DM and Adelman should propose possible alternative solutions.

It's within 25%. But if the rumor is true, don't except for it to be "completed" before July 1st, because it would cause Phoenix to take an additional luxury tax hit. But one selling point to the Rockets is generating $4 million in additional room under the luxury tax threshold next year to resign Artest and/or Wafer.

Excuse my ignorance. Now I understand

P.S. ESPN needs to get that trade machine updated. It's still last year's payroll.

I don't think so. The Suns on a serious rebuilding mode and still want to save monies for after next season to go after the 2010 FA.

If this deal were true, it doesn't preclude a second trade.

The merits of this deal can be argued, although it is obvious that to get through the Lakers, you need bigs, and to survive in the West, you need solid power forwards.

If this deal went down, either Lowry would be the starting PG---he's more of a real PG than Brooks anyway---and Brooks' taller doppelganger Barbosa would take over that speedy to-the-basket or shoot-the-three type.

Lowry-Barbosa would work better in the sort of small backcourt Adelman employed in Sacramento. Barbosa's 6'4", Brooks is about 5'9". Brooks-Lowry is a little TOO small.

    OR:

Flip Barbosa for Hinrich (you get the idea)

    OR:

We'd trade for a lottery pick to bring in a point guard or trade for the vet point guard, whatever. Which might involve Scola, which leaves backup 4 to Hayes and (sometimes) Artest (if re-signed).

In any case, I hope some journalist isn't regurgitating the BBS.

I agree, they gain nothing from the Shaq trade except financially.......they're officially on rebuilding mode.

I agree that giving brooks away would be a big loss. I just see nobody else as a dangerous go to guy who creates a blur, yet his indecisiveness is his weakness- and he is still developing. i dont see anybody from the pheonix trade discussions that is legit to trade for him.

He is probably the only pure shooter left on our team  ! the rest are kind of One dimensional- I would be surprised if Morey does this.

I cant see this trade going down anymore. :p In Morey's tenture here, when has a move reported by the media ever happened? I know I have bad memory but cant think of one. When a trade does happen, its always unexpected or something you never hear about, right? Morey shall look elsewhere. Maybe Chris Bosh?!

I don't understand why Rocket is so obsessed with Amare.

If we give away Tmac, we should be targeting an all star caliber guard!!

Ever since Duncan and Robinson, every championship team has an all star guard to creat shot: Kobe, Billups, Park, Paul Piece, Wade..

Plus, when Amare said in the media that he might play in Washington and etc., his trade value went down. We give way too much unless there is Sun's 13th pick involved.

I think this is a good deal. Let's face it, T-Mac will not play until March...and when he does, it will take him a long time to get his game back. Not to mention that he will be in and out of the lineup and will be a chemistry issue for the playoffs. He is done imo.

Landry meanwhile, is good, brings intensity and athleticism, but that would be replaced by an all-star in Amare. Who would bring more intensity (on the offensive end at least) and athleticism, and is a threat to go off for 40 points a night. This would make us bigger in the frontcourt and he also can play some backup Center minutes for Yao or whenever we want to play a quick lineup.

Brooks is the main guy here that we would be losing. In the playoffs he shown that he can lead a team, even though he was a little inconsistent, but nevertheless he was a real matchup problem for a lot of teams. That speed that we will be losing will be replaced by Barbosa, who is known for his speed and driving to the basket. No more will we be resorted to watching Artest go one on one and jackup fade away 20 footers. Well, actually that will be there, but we will have more options on the perimiter with Barbosa being able to attack the basket and hopefully Wafer (but he will be expendable with this trade since he and Barbosa bring the same thing to the table).

All in all, i do realize we are giving up some players but we will improve greatly on the offensive end without giving up any of our key defensive players.
