It's interesting trade, we get Amare but we give up very young player in Aaron Brooks. Landry would walk out anyways so it's NOW time to deal with his contract in my opinion.

Rockets get scorer in Barbosa, constant off the bench or maybe as a starter, it doesn't matter but lose shooting guard in TMac.

Hmph, this should be interesting but I think Morey will not do this because he simply knows how valuable is Aaron Brooks to Rockets.

If Lowry was in the talk, I'd do this trade immediately, but you can't have it all, can you?

Look at how old Barkley was compared to Amare is now.

Also look at how the Suns got nothing out of Cassel + Horry... they only succeeded once they were cast off that team.

I'm not sure how I feel about this deal but it doesn't sound as bad as many make it out to be.

    Lowry/Barbosa
    Artest/Barbosa/Berry
    Battier/Artest/White
    Stoudemire/Scola/Hayes/Dorsey
    Yao/Stoudemire/Dorsey

This would be the proposed lineup I guess? It's not so bad. If healthy, it's enough to contend for a championship. I'm guessing the Rockets have lots of faith in Lowry to take the starting point-guard role.

This does sound like a Morey-type deal because there isn't a long commitment to this plan. Stoudemire solves the backup center problem and is a one year rental. Remember, he is also in a contract year like Tmac, so you know he's going to play hard to get a big contract.

The Yao-Tmac plan was given 5 years and failed; The last year being the Artest-Tmac-Yao plan. Now they want to try Artest-Stoudemire-Yao plan for 1 year which isn't too much risk.

Worst case scenario, we'll end up with lots of capspace after 2010 (assuming we rebuild and let Yao and Amare go).

Lowry in my opinion is a legit pg...
has just been a shadow on both memphis behind conoly and now brooks,
look what brooks did when he became the main man....

The difference is the team with Cassell and Horry won championships. Plus Amare is not in the twilight of his career.

This rumor explains a lot actually. Reports imply that Morey is aggressively trying to get into the lottery for a top 5 point guard. Perhaps a deal for Amare is closer than we think.

Plus, he's going to be wearing goggles now.

For Phx to get the cap relief to make the deal make sense to them, it would appear that JRich (+Amar'e + Barbarosa) would have to be included and thus @$9mm savings, well below lux yet still within NBA's 25%. Rox would be in lux hell. Hell, if they don't care I don't, either. :D

This is interesting. Rockets could be looking to make a straight swap for a SG with McGrady's contract?

I'd imagine the trade would require an extension for Amare.

Also, I was out of town for a few days, did I miss the Rockets re-signing Artest?

If the team does make this trade, I wonder how it would affect the chances of re-signing Artest.

If so a T-Mac for J-Rich deal wont work. T-Mac makes 20.3 mil and Richardson makes 12.2 mil. Richardson and Nash for T-Mac, Landry, and Brooks and you may have yourself a deal! Ehh a T-Mac trade wont happen til later in the offseason.

i'm not sure i feel about moving scola to the bench for amare.

amare is an upgrade i suppose... but still, i love watching scola play hard.

yao will prob go down and amare can start at center anyways...

I definitely agree that this isn't a Morey type deal. Les is probably pulling the strings if this in fact "rumored" deal is true. In his mind he's worried about putting butts in the seats and he probably figures that he traded a star player in Stevie for a star player in Tracy so why do a Morey type deal and trade Tracy for a bunch of players that just might fit the system that Adelman's putting in when you can get an All-Star.

Two things though, everyone says that Amare solves the backup center position but unless you plan on him playing 48 minutes per, we still need a long, legit, backup center to be able to play spot minutes.

And if we go into next season with Ron at the 2 and Battier at the 3, I think we're in trouble. That's just not enough (efficient) offense coming out of those two spots. We need a legit 2 guard to start and either let Ron walk or swing one of them to the bench. I think people are still drinking the JVG juice thinking Defense, Defense, Defense but if you can't put the ball in the hole, all that D doesn't matter.

My two cents....Oh.....hate the proposed trade BTW......I think Amare would kill any hope of continuing the chemistry that we have and I just don't see him and Yao working out down low, yes I know Amare has an outside game but name the last time something like a Yao-Amare frontcourt has worked out and won someone a championship?

The Rockets spent years in salary cap hell, and this theoretical trade would plunge them right back into it.
