If the Suns dump Shaq for cap relief and reacquire their 2010 pick from the Thunder, then they'll be in total blow-up mode. In that circumstances, I bet you could get Nash and Amare for TMac, Brooks, and Landry. The Suns know that Nash and Amare won't stick around for rebuilding.

Giving up Brooks for Nash would hurt in the long-term, but with Yao's health concerns, you've got to live for right now anyway.

Amare would also work well with Yao and Scola because he doesn't post-up. There'll be plenty of minutes and shots for all three, since they'll share the 4 and 5 spots.

    PG: Nash / Lowry
    SG: Artest / Wafer
SF: Battier / Barry / White
PF: Stoudemire / Scola / Cook
    C: Yao / Hayes / Dorsey

You'd still like some more size to match up with Gasol, et al. Oberto?

Huh? Those are Amare's per 48 numbers when his team is is in close and late situations.

The Phoenix team wasn't very good. They were -28 when Nash was on the floor, close and late. Doesn't mean much.

That doesn't mean much, either. It's probably more indicative that the Suns have poor backups for Nash.

As big a stat geek as Morey is, if he thinks it's worth it to acquire Amare, I'm sure he's got some sort of statistical breakdown that proves he's not a product of Nash.

    Injury prone
    Doesn't play D
    Wants to be #1 option
    Inflated stats b/c Nash effect

Not too excited, but it could be worse.

I have been one of the biggest opponents of trading Brooks AND Landry and I'm not a big Stoudamire fan either. That being said, your post is great. I don't believe we can get Nash, but I would be very excited about this trade.

Yeah, I misread the footnote on the website..

I think this whole clutch stat doesn't matter much either, because I think Morey was talking about someone who can create his own high quality shot during clutch time, which Amare isn't capable of doing..

What? Then what are you getting out of those stats? He scores at a ridiculous rate in a clutch but he can't "get a high quality shot"? If you're implying everything is spoon fed to him by Nash then check what I wrote earlier.

Percentage of made shots assisted to:

    Amare - 57%
    Shaq - 59%
    Yao - 58%
    Scola - 71%
    Garnett - 74%

This number low would be a problem if he shoots a poor percentage but he shoots an exceptional percentage at .617 TS%.

Oh, you mean like 2nd year, 21 year old Amare (2003-2004), who averaged 21-9 with Stephon Marbury and Leandro Barbosa (also 21 at the time) as his starting PGs for the season?

Amare has his warts; if he didn't, he wouldn't be on the market. He's an absolute dynamo offensively, and there's no way around that.

1996 called. It was asking about how well that trade where we sent a few good players for one great one - Cassell, Horry, Bryant, and Brown for Barkley....

    Keep the nucleus together.

Dump T-Mac and maybe one player for Chandler's salary.

    The End.

If Morey means this kind of clutch stats, then Yao and Brooks already has very similar if not better stat compare to Amare... But since Morey still said we are missing a player for high quality shot in clutch time, so my guess would be that Morey mean someone who can actually create high quality shots at the end of game, either for himself or for his teammates...

I dont think we could get Nash nor should we. Nash likes to push the ball. We are no where close to a running team. Yeah he'd be nice but I dont think he'd fit. He'd be a great replacement for Brooks but I just cant see it. If such a deal were to go down, give me Barbosa or Richardson.

Barkley was at the end, or past his prime when we got him. Amare isn't. Cassell and Horry helped us get two titles. Brooks had just as many poor playoff games as good ones (arguably).

Yes I know. Id love Nash but you have to look at how he fits the team. I dont see it as a good fit. Unless Yao is out of the game, and Amare is at the 5 and Scola at 4, I cant see Nash as a good fit. Do you see him waiting on Yao Ming to get down court?

I know what you mean by the open-court kind of play steve nash thrives in, but he is two time mvp right? yao will just have to be the number 2 or even 3 option in the game when we are running fast breaks etc leaveing amare and steve nash to do their thing...if seven seconds or less doesnt work, by that time yao wouldve been down the court already and we can run our half court sets.

last season we were one of the most pathetic teams running fast breaks, now we have one of the best fast break players in the whole league.

but I wonder what it would take to get both nash and amare here...man the spurs got jefferson for NOTHING having their own version of the Pau Gasol trade

Uuhhhhhh....I know a lot of you guys are thinking that Clutch is breaking some kind news (he has before) but every summer he makes Player Profiles for potential free agent or trade targets and sometimes he or someone else in the crew will Photoshop them in a Rockets uniform and display the pic and the profile on the homepage.

He's saying so in his post. If it happens (which I personally hate but that's my opinion) so be it but this isn't a breaking news story that Clutch posted.
