You know him, he's Marge Schott's boy.

I could see Soudemire playing with Yao. When you double Yao he can overpower almost any one man left to guard him. He could be happy as a jam master, he could get a lot of TV time. And it gives you a three man rotation at the 4 and 5 even during crunch time. It saves Yao minutes, big time. It cover our ass when Yao fractures another metatarsal.

I believe he could be peer pressured into focusing on defense and if he did, he can play Duncan. (hold him to 20 and 10).

If it came to be, it would be interesting.

Even with some of the best post players ever to play the game, Hakeem, Duncan, etc. more often than not the go to player at the end of the game still isn't them, for a variety of reasons (even the greats could make a play change by fronting, hard for a post player to realize how much time is on the clock, even with a truly dominant post player the play doesn't force the defense to react unless they voluntarily decide to double-team). Which is why it seems like 75% of the time, it is the best scoring guard with the ball in their hands, waiting for a pick from either the dominant scoring post player or the player with the opposing teams worst defender.

That said, having Amare at the end of games would obviously be a boon...

AND Nike's stats make some compelling arguments. I can't believe the assist turnover #s, but there they are. Give me Amare, use Landry as trade bait for backcourt help.

Only problem with Amare is his health...that's it. It's not so much his knees, he's recovered from that for the time being at least. Now it's his detached retina.

Offensively he's a beast, and IDK why anyone wouldn't want his defense on this team. It's not all NBA caliber...but this team needs another go-to efficient scorer besides Yao...and Tmac is hurt, and Artest isn't that.

I think my constant streams of protest against acquiring Amare are probably well-enough documented already, but to recap:

    1. Injury problems (didn't we have enough of that with T-Mac?)
    2. Whiny and self-centered (again... kinda like T-Mac?)
    3. Rarely gives an effort on defense (do I need to say it?)

That said, I have to say Amare/Barbosa for T-Mac/Landry/Brooks makes some sense for both teams.

Hey guys! On the Phoneix board on realgm.com theres an insider giving out info that there is a deal in the works for a Suns player. He's not giving out details of course but it seems that the player on the table is Amare. Thought it'd be cool to share with ya'll since people are thinkin there is an offer for Amare from us.

Plz plz. If this was the trade...oh wow.

Yeah we'd have one PG in Lowry...but Barbosa and Stoudamire are the scoring options this team needs. Maybe if we get Barbosa we can trade Wafer and someone else for late round pick to get a backup PG or even for a backup PG.

The Rockets' health has been frustrating to watch. I just wish they'd get away from that two injury prone, max contract player model.

Amare's character reminds me of T-Mac. I'll find him very hard to support if he's a Rocket.

The poster is equivalent to our Doc Rocket. An insider with a decent track record. The PHX posters believe him almost 100% and thrive on the news he brings from the PHX Front office

Noo dude! Tmac has much more value then that.

Besides you're trading Brooks and Landry who will pretty much stick with the organization if we want them back for a guy you rent 1 year then sign else where. You're back to square one with this trade.

I think you forgot to read the footnote. Those stats are team stats when Amare is on the court, not individual stats. (when less than 5 minutes left in 4th, neither team ahead by more than 5 points) Plus, the Phoenix team has a -17 point/per 48 minutes when Amare was on the floor in clutch situations.

In addition, if you read other stats on 82games.com, Amare's +/- number is very crappy when Nash wasn't in the lineup. (-26 and -15) That tells you how much Amare is relying on Nash PG skills..

Not only that but if you're a PER guy, Amare's PER from 07/08 (when he was 100%) was an alarming 27.29. For comparison's sake, he would have finished 4th in the league behind LeBron, Wade and CP3 if he would have done that in 08/09. We're talking about him finishing ahead of Kobe, Dirk, Dwight, Yao, Duncan, Gasol and others.
