Sony Alpha 300 and the kit lens that came with it (don't use that) Minolta 70 -200 f4 lens (beercan) Minolta 35-70 f4 lens Sony took over minoltas cameras so you can buy the Alpha series bodies and get real good old minolta AF lenses that will work with them on the cheap. The sony's have vibration resistence built into the body and not the lenses as well, unlike others where it is in the lens. They are definitely gaining ground on Nikon on Canon and the real good minolta lenses are getting snatched up. Something to consider.
am I crazy or did you violate your own rule by posting your old cameras? i have my small Canon pocket-sized camera (SD 800IS? 700IS? I forget, it's "old") I'm waiting for the new non-SLR DSLR's to get nice..
Pentax K20D, multiple lenses. Great camera for the price. Often overlooked brand, used to be a powerhouse back in the day
Oh yeah, in addition to the Canon XTi, I have a small Olympus Stylus 840. A good little camera for point and shoot that I bought for my mom but since she never uses it, gave it to me.
Check out the 17-50/2.8 from Tamron. It gets great reviews and is probably better than anything in the same price range. It's probably better than lenses that are more expensive, to be honest.
the canon xti rebel is an excellent camera for someone who wants a relatively cheap dsr camera. i use it at work and it's much better than any compact cameras.
Agree with the Tamron 17-50/2.8. Seems to be a good lens across all mounts, gets good reviews from Pentax users.
I'd sell you mine much cheaper, but I know I'm going to get the bug to "learn photo shootin'" again soon...
I got a Brownie Starflex sitting next to the Royal typewriter. Well, I really use a XTi. For a first time DSLR, its fine. But I do see me upgrading someday. -
Canon 20D. If I had the money I'd buy a Canon 5D Mark II yesterday. It's great for portraits and that's what I like to shoot. And it shoots HD video. This is the video that was shot with a 5DII that has the wedding photogs drooling. Granted, the guy using this has top of the line lenses that has a to do with it. http://www.usa.canon.com/dlc/controller?act=GetArticleAct&articleID=2326 Stunning.
I finally got this little bad boy.... Literally the best point and shoot compact in low light in the WORLD.. Ladies and Gentlemen I introduce the Fuji F31fd It's a 3yr old camera but everyone is still trying to get there hands on this little gem.. Read up on it and you will know why. I have a Rebel with a nice Tamron lens but when I just need to quickly capture the moment and lug big equipment around this is the puppy to do it.. I've gone through so many P&S and they all suck in low light.. This is the only camera that performs the way it should.. As a matter of fact i hard use flash at all to get a more natural shot.. If you can get your hands on one of these do it.. Got it used for around $350.. Yes this camera is going for that and much more ( sometime more than how much it cost new 2-3 yrs ago) What other camera can hold there value? Not even DSLR In reality we all take more indoor shots than outside and this is the guy for those quick moments..
Uh, no, sir. I still use the Canon Sure Shot "old" camera every now and then, but I run out of film quickly. It still works. I know Mrs. SwoLy and I bought it in 1997.
