I still can't believe the G1 is not compatible with the most used email program in the world.

I need my Outlook, damnit! One of the reason I've contemplated getting it, yet stayed away from.

For the G1, since I'm on a family plan with unlimited text, the dataplan would just basically be internet right? As stated before, all I would have to do to cancel the dataplan would be to call CCS? Also, is the dataplan required for upgrades?

Thanks for the input so far guys.

Yes sir, the data plan would just be internet and you just call customer service or go online to cancel. And from what I've read, you will still receive the updates when you connect to WiFi.

After experience with all three, iPhone wins out. But if you do a lot of messaging/email, I'd consider a Blackberry.

I'm a big Apple product "hater" and I used to think the iPhone was just a fancy looking phone that didn't do anything really new or innovative, but when I started using it, my opinion of it changed drastically. It really is just a well built phone that does everything most phones do pretty damn good.

Of course, my opinion factors in jailbreaking the phone so the customization and free apps are available. If I had to pay for the apps I use, I'd have a different view on things.

    Thanks.

I'm still debating on whether to get the G1 or IPhone. I'm more than likely going to buy either one of those phones off of craiglist.

If I get the G1, do I need to have a data plan in order to activate the phone? I was talking to a T-Mobile rep yesterday and she said that I needed the data plan in order to activate it and set up my account. Any advice on that?

If I decide to go with the IPhone, would the 2g or 3g be better for me? Again, I'm with T-Mobile and I do not have the 3g network in my plan.

    Thanks.

I wish they would just make a high quality phone that is just a phone.

You cannot do anything but play on these phones.

If they were not spreading the cost of expensive phones into monthly payments, no one would buy this stuff.

As for the G1, you can call to add the data feature, register and set up your phone, and then call back to take off the data feature and continue to use the phone just fine.

For the iPhone, save the money and go with the 2G. The most important feature of the 3G won't work with T-Mobile.
