He's a really interesting prospect. He started playing basketball really late, like only a couple years ago IIRC, and he's already a very productive college player. Averaging 8 points, 6 rebounds, and a block in only 20mpg as an 18-year-old freshman. 70% field goal percentage. 72.4% from the free throw line, so maybe some shooting potential in there. 7'2" with a 7'5" wingspan. Highly mobile and switchable, can really cover ground like you see in this clip. I think he's my guy right now with the Suns pick. I wasn't that big on Edey or Clingan because I didn't think they could play alongside Sengun, but this guy intrigues me a bit more. I think he could work in a double-bigs lineup and he has some serious upside.
Hoping for Pelicans sweep tonight. My understanding is the dialogue between Stone and Nets had been going on for some time because we wanted Mikal. That is what led to the deal in the first place. Nets told Stone they had an offer for Mikal that was too good to pass up but they wouldn't do the deal unless we traded the immediate picks back to let them tank. This is after we burned them with Tari and then landed the #3 pick. We kept 2027 and they gave us all of the PHX stuff. That deal was a multiteam trade that included us so we knew the terms of the deal beforehand. That would have been discussed. Stone had them over a barrel after giving 2 picks back to them. The Suns picks AT THAT TIME were thought to be far less valuable than Nets picks and again we were taking a risk on basically implosion insurance. NOW it looks like a good deal for us but at the time I am 100% sure if Stone pressed he shakes that 2027 PHI pick out of their hand. They had to do that Mikal deal. Nets quietly went from a train wreck to a team full of draft assets. I believe the Nets made a mistake overvaluing Cam Johnson during the deadline.
Good chance you're right. I've seen him mocked around #8 mostly. Suns pick will probably be worse than that, but you never know.
Would absolutely trade up from 12 to get him at 7-9 depending on who's picking there. These types of centers are commodities and no one wants to spend a high draft pick on them but also don't want to pay them 35m in free agency. Chance that the Suns pick gets worse. Team looks checked out.
I think if we basically didn't have our own pick for the next 7 drafts, then it would be worth considering. The Suns are in a hell of their own making, and winning to spite us won't help. What if Durant or Booker pick up an 8-12 month injury in the next 2 months? There goes 2026 (if it isn't already gone with an aging group that doesn't fit on the court, no assets to improve and no ability to add players due to the cap rules). The chance of a return on asset is just about gone on KD if he gets hurt. And then they are forced to feature Dunn and Ighodaro, but with a season less to run on their contracts... Their rebuild will be painful - for 7 years they can't really hope for the best in the draft....
Yeah but again if they tank and give us cooper flagg that just makes then look worse. Its all about saving face for them at this point theres no point in salting their own wound to give Ryan Dunn more development.
I would give all of the Suns pick and the Nets pick if it netted us Cooper Flagg. An Amen, Jalen, Jabari, Flagg, Sengun lineup with FVV, Dillon, Tari coming off the bench would be great and cheap enough for a long run of contending. I just don't think it would be enough. I'm not sure Flagg is bluffing about waiting a year, based on who has the first pick.
Sure - but that is a live chance no matter what. We own their pick no matter how many games they win. It is irrelevant to them, and for them to let that influence their thinking is terrible team building. They also wouldn't be trying to lose, but rather trying to win and have players not named KD or Durant produce stats. If they win just a handful of games they'll still finish with 10th worst record, so.....
If they had good team building they wouldnt be in this mess lol. This is like asking Bobby to give a fair assessment on Jalen Green and Reed Sheppard. In life image and projection matters more than reality. Like when Sixers fired Hinkie because of protests against The Process. Doesnt matter if the Gms replacing him wasted all his gains and picked a bust, people still say The Process didnt work. Suns have the mindset they want to win as many games this season and give us as low a pick as possible. They dont wanna hear all the jokes if they end up giving us Flagg.
Their owner has proved to be delusional and is still trying to make the playoffs. I'm going to be super pissed if NY bails them out by trading Kat for Durant. It won't make them much better, but better enough to de-value our picks.
Nobody will trade Flagg unless they get an all star plus other stuff in return. Maybe if we trade Sengun, Cam, Reed and all the Nets, Dallas and PHX picks we can get Flagg.
That actually makes a lot of sense. Great contract, theres really no reason for them to trade him now. I read somewhere that he is the lightest he has ever been in the NBA, and just got his first triple double last night (surprising given what he averages that he never had one). I think prior to him coming back this year, I thought there was a chance he was available and read somewhere he would be made available. He has since been playing very well. I actually have been mentioning Zion as a target for over a year, and the response on here was mostly negative, he seems to be trending up so i can see him not being available.
KAT's value is at an all time high, he is putting up great numbers and is 7 years younger than Durant, not even 30 until next season. Knicks act as if they found gold w KAT, and they know they won the Randle trade by a lot, I can not see them trading KAT. I think Bridges or OG get traded before KAT. This current Knicks core is actually fairly young, they are all essentially in their primes at the same time (All 27-29 years old), if they keep this group together they have a solid 5-6 years to be very competitive.
With the Suns pick, Kasparas Jakucionis, Asa Newell and Kaman Maluach are the players I'm interested ATM.
They ought to remember that the Rockets are still all things considered their most useful trading partner next summer and this pick can still turn out to be theirs.
