If these guys are undoubtedly tier 1 why does their team suck so much more than the Rockets? That should be food for thought for you.
You're exactly right. I'd rather have overachieving youth with picks, than underachieving veterans and no picks. Booker has disappeared lately, and KD is the sort of player that is the cherry on top, we are phase below going after someone like Durant, especially at his age.
My guess is that it would be more likely to happen during this season rather than after it. That way they could tank some more this year. They could get their 25, 27, and 29 1st back from us, but the problem is that they don't control their 2026 1st. Why would they start a rebuild without that pick?
Suns pick #10 now!! Not looking good for them. I would ONLY listen to a Booker trade where we give them Green, the 2025 pick and salary filler. If their pick goes #1 then they should be happy with that trade anyway
Because the rest of their roster is trash. you can just load up on those 2 guys and leave everyone else open. We need someone who can score in the clutch and someone that’s actually going to get calls from the refs in the playoffs.
The Blazers just won in Milwaukee. I don't think they're gonna catch Phoenix, but anything is possible. Chicago is about to catch them and Philly is right behind them too(and both teams play each other this week).
I didn't expect this swap to amount to much so this has been a nice surprise. I doubt the team wants to get younger, but a lotto pick has way more trade value than a pick in the mid 20's. So if we pursue someone like Fox or Booker this pick helps a ton, especially if we get lucky and move up again. This bodes really well for our 2027 pick as well.
I’m of the opinion that we should keep this Ponzi scheme alive and trade the 2028 Suns pick to BKN for the 2029 & 2031 Knicks picks
I doubt that any deal would make sense, but I would like to see the Rockets trade x player and the Phoenix pick to a team that is worse than Phoenix for the rights to swap in 2025. An example, and I'm not necessarily proposing this, would be Whitmore and Phoenix pick for Portland's pick, maybe even Por top 3 protected. This is similar to how the Rockets went from 30 to 20 to get Whitmore. If the pick lands in top 3 or the Phoenix pick leapfrogs POR, then we gave away Cam for nothing. The deal would probably be too dangerous for Portland right now, then again, Cam could average 20 pretty easily with minutes. PHO just looks so bad right now that the imagination runs wild.
Weren’t The nets were number 9 when they moved up the draft ? That might be our lucky number lottery.
What makes you think Houston would not be able to attract free agents? Historically when Houston has been competitive, they have always had players interested in coming. Jimmy Butler listed Houston as one of 4 teams he is wanting to be on this season (and we are not even that desperate to chase that immediately), if you watch any of the top NBA player podcasts (PG, Draymond, etc) players get excited when talking about Houston, and that was before this season started. When you have one of our biggest haters in Draymond seeing the path we were on a season ago, it means the entire league is aware. As a top 2-3 team in the West right now, you will see a ton more players saying the same things. Right now Houston and OKC would probably be the top destinations for any star player looking to make a move, because they have the flexibility to extend them and they also would not deplete their roster trying to get them and therefore still be competitive. Don't act like Houston is desperate for any star they can get when they literally told James Harden thanks, but not thanks a couple years ago. That was before they even built this current squad. Only OKC is in a better position to attract a FA, but Houston is considered a better city overall vs OKC, so a lot of guys may have a preference due to that alone. Also, whoever the star player is, they may see a better fit with Houston's roster than OKC's roster depending on what position they play. Every other team in the league is either set with their star players and not in a position to make a move, likely to lose their star player than gain one, or they do not have the assets to pull off a trade. Claiming that KD and Booker are such high caliber of players, and yet a team that has TWO such caliber players is currently at the bottom of the conference while a team with no such caliber of player is at the top makes little sense. This is not a prime Lebron and D Wade in Miami, imagine those guys being in 12th place in the conference. Houston has ALL of the leverage right now, they can afford to be patient.
Our evil plan to corner the market on more Jabari’s, JG’s, and Reed’s than can fit on an nba roster is nearly complete bwahahahhaha!
