Houston may just be using Fox trade talk to further pressure Suns to trade either KD/Booker or both ASAP
From Suns Reddit: “The copium with this fanbase is insane lol. Can someone please explain to me why there seems to be this idea that the Suns can just “trade with houston for our picks”? We don’t have the get out of jail free card yall think we have. Rockets are 1 game back from being 2nd in the west. Great young core with plenty of assets to improve, especially our picks which will be very valuable with our current path we’re on. Oh yeah no my bad, the rockets would totally love to gut their successful team to take on a 36 year old max contract Kevin Durant with an injury history and inability to dribble the ball.” just remember…we are not the ones who are desperate. lol.
Yup- I love Durant but if the Rockets trade for him, I will be devastated. Even A trade for Booker would be bitter sweet because he is 28 years old. I certainly wouldn’t give up all the Suns picks for him. The Rockets can get Fox for less than that. There are several players on Phoenix that would help the Rockets - Booker, Jones and Allen would all help the Rockets… they would lose all their Suns picks, but would still have Sheppard and their own picks… but that deal doesn’t really give the Rockets a #1. I guess the Rockets could give the Suns all their picks back and Jabari Smith and get KD, Booker and Allen and see if they are good enough to win a title this year or maybe next in an era without a single dominant team. Would a team with: FVV/Green/Sheppard Booker/Whitmore Durant/Brooks Smith/Allen Sengun/Thompson Lots of depth- not sure if beats OKC
I know everyone wants to trade for Booker, but I'm also thinking why not do the Nets trade again? Once PHX blows it up and trades Booker and KD, tell them we'll give them 2 picks and 2 swap for 4 picks and 4 swaps from other teams. We can keep doing that indefinitely and just generate picks and swaps every year.
I bet this is a desired option on the Thunder and/or Rockets. The main crux of that though is you are coming in at a disadvantage because they know you have too many picks and young players already. It would be funny though if the rockets jumped into the top 4 again and it got you say 2-3 picks and 2 swaps for it.
Next year: Bari - season 4 Jalen - hopefully gone Sengun - season 5 Tari - season 4 Cam - season 3 Amen - season 3 Reed - season 2 I only see six of the “core 7”, three of which will be in their 4th or 5th seasons. Maybe one of those guys gets thrown in as part of a Jalen trade. Assuming Brooks is still here and other vets fill in around them, it’s really not too many young guys, and we don’t have a draft pick in 2026. So I think we could actually absorb another top young prospect if the Suns pick ends up a lotto pick. Beyond the chance to hit on a star, I think teams are going to have to keep using the draft to balance out their caps, as those rookie scale contracts are going to be the cheapest ways to hoard talent. Embrace the continued draft indulgence until someone makes us an offer we can’t refuse
As the Ex owner of those Brooklyn swap picks, I have to say it is annoying how competitive Brooklyn still is in games not overall record.
Why would be want them here if they can't get that team with a 3rd star into the playoffs? You keep those old bloated contracts of dudes who are in the twilight .... I refuse to bail out another team who dug themselves a deep hole with no way out. I'm either making those picks in the lottery or trading them for later picks.
NBA insider Marc Stein reported Thursday that "it is by no means an automatic that the Rockets would pursue Fox should he be made available after the season." Fox would at least give Houston more starpower to counter in crunch time, although it reportedly might want to use its resources elsewhere. -----BleacherReport
Does anyone notice the people who dismiss and are pushing hardest for trading Green away are the ones who speak the least about on court basketball analysis? Ask yourself if the poster above has done any analyst on the court outside of "shooting bad"
I mentioned something similar in a previous post but PHX's shooting splits are amazing during this 10-15 game slump. They lost a game last week shooting nearly 60/50/90. Tonight at the half, they are tied with IND shooting 54/46/80. Rooting against Phoenix is sometimes even better than rooting for the Rockets. I feel better about Phoenix giving us Cooper Flagg than I do the Rockets giving its fans a title.
So, end of the year the Suns offer Booker for all their picks back. What's the highest pick that you're willing to give up? It probably doesn't make sense to give up so much for a star in their prime if you could have a young future star.
What other choice do we really have ? We cannot assume that anyone on our current roster will become the caliber of player booker/durant are currently. Houston is also not a hotbed for free agents. if we don’t trade for booker/durant while knowing no one on our current roster will be a Tier 1 - superstar level player and no Tier 1 player will sign here in free agency, then what are we doing?
