Pretty close. McGrady will have to ok any deal that is made. Nobody is going to give up a kings ransome for hiim unless he agrees to sign an extension. It will all come down to where McGrady prefers to play. Phoenix or anybody else can have the best deal on the table, but unless McGrady wants to play there, the deal won't happen.

Phoenix (supposedly) is going to pursue Kobe so they need to free more money (and shots). They'd like to move White. Marion is a luxury and can be moved with the (supposed) idea of moving Johnson to the 3.

White and Marion for Cato and the TE anyone?

well i think he could play alot of minutes at PF, he does avg 9 rebounds a game and is strong for his size

obviously there will be certian matchups where it would be better to have cato in at PF then we could slide marion to SF, this lineup would be very versatile

i think marion could do a better job guarding malone than taylor and cato have done

How? They don't have anything to give the Magic in return since there's no way in hell Kobe's going to play in Orlando.

McGrady isn't a free agent, he can't just sign with the Lakers. He can opt out if his contract after next season, but the Magic will trade if they think that's going to happen.

Aelliott, if I was Suns, I do this trade in a second since I also get rid of Marion's Max contract. After the trade, I can still have 10M cap space to sign an impact free agent. A Rasheed or Dampier will make me an instant contender, which should convince Mcgrady to sign an extension.

Rockets and other western powers MUST prevent this trade from happening.

    Exactly.

T-Mac would be great here. I was just looking at T-Mac's and Shawn Marion's career stats, they look pretty much similar. Except T-mac has more points per game. And to who suggested it, no way can Shawn Marion play PF for us at his height AND weight. The only thing he exceeds T-mac on most, is rebounding. Marion averages 9.4 rebounds for his career. But still, T-mac does average 6.3 rebounds for his career, i'd say that's pretty good for one who plays the two.

To be honest, I've only seen T-mac play the most between the two. Never really saw Marion in real action. So my question is, who has the better mid range jumpshot and the better drive to the basket between the two? I'm assuming T-mac from what I've seen him do on the dribble and drive, and his high points per game average.
I'm asking this, cause someone on this thread suggested Marion would be a better pick up than T-mac for the Rockets.

if you're talking @ me, i said that Francis/Marion would be better than just TMac. to answer you're question about Marion, there is no contest between TMac and Marion on the offensive end. TMac is a better shooter and ball ahndler. what Marion brings is a more well-rounded game, rebounding and defense are better. to make an analogy, if TMac were Jordan Marion would be a Pippen. to get McGrady we'd have to give Steve whereas I could see a situation where we could get Marion from Orlando without giving up Steve.

I'm not sure about that, Marion is an awsome player, and Phoenix could get much better offers than a non-Steve offer from the Rox.

maybe not, i dont know i think he would be better than what we have right now at PF, and we would still have cato in my scenario, we could go sf - marion pf - cato c - ming when facing some of the stronger west pf's

i think marion would be able to guard malone better for example, not that you should acquire someone because they could guard a player likely to retire but, yeah anyways... basically i think the combo of marion/cato at pf is better than cato/taylor by alot, but then again maybe marion grabs so many boards because he plays 40 mins a game and goes against the other team's SF

I would love to see T-Mac in a Rockets uni!!! If that would happen then we would have two players on the court that need to be doubled. That would open things up for Yao and all other players. The only way that could happen if Steve is involved. Maybe cato also. But that would also leave a big hole at the point. No way Mobely can fill that spot so then you have to trade him for a real pg. Who do you like? Also if cato is involved do we have to Match salaries or does the exception make up for that? If we can free up some cap space then we can make a run for Okur or Wallace. T. Mac, Yao, Wallace Wow Think of that. IN any event were gonna need to get a complete pf in here.
