David Dalati said today on 790 that they are still in talks but that nothing was done and "probably won't be soon" whatever that means.
But then again, I read some report somewhere that quoted Moulds's agent saying that a they wanted to be done with it within 48 houts, and that they probably would be.... I just want Moulds in Houston.
I believe it was ima_drummer2k who summed up perfectly one of the main reasons I want Moulds. This is Carr's last chance as a Texan. If he goes out and plays like he did for the majority of the year last year, the Texans will be looking for a new QB this time next year. By surrounding him with talented offensive players at all the skill positions with what will most defintely be an improved OL (the degree to which is obviously debateable), we're going to see what Carr is really made of when given a fair chance. If he can't succeed with Bush/Davis/AJ/Moulds/Putzier and an improved OL, then it's time for him to go. If nothing else, this offense could be very fun to watch. Signing Moulds also frees up another draft pick so we can focus on further improving the OL and defense (which should also be somewhat improved by the change in coaching/move to 4-3). If this is true, I want the NFL to start tomorrow. I'm amazed at how excited I am going to be about a team that went 2-14 last season.
This is exactly what me and my friends have been talking about. It's hard not to be excited, but not to the extent that some people are talking playoffs. We should be alot better and fun to watch and that's all you could have hoped for at the end of last year.
Moulds is nothing to get excited about. He's just a possession receiver, and isn't much of a real threat at this point in his career. The need for a #2 could have been addressed via the draft.
81 catches and 850 yards is nothing to yawn at either. By signing Moulds, we now have an extra pick for OL or defense. The skill positions are set.
Disclaimer: I don't know jack about NFL football. Would Gaffney or any of the other brick-handed members of the receivers' corps qualify as a "possession receiver"? The reason I ask, is that even Moulds is no Jerry Rice, *any* improvement on that piece of doo-doo we called an offense is exciting to me.
I think Moulds has a couple of years left, at least one. His receptions went down in Buffalo due to age but mainly due to Lee Evans. A possession receiver i what you want next to Dre, he's the deep threat.
He's asking for 3 years $15 million. Hopefully, the Texans can get him down to 3 years $12 million. The biggest issue should be the signing bonus. I imagine Moulds will never make it to his third year on his new contract.
If anything Moulds would force other teams to think twice about doubling up on AJ. He still has the skills to produce, and I like the idea of adding a veteran WR who knows his ****. I agree with RM95 - Carr has the weapons...... This is a make or break year for him. Bench his sorry ass if he sucks and start Rosenpenis.
the only thing that matters in contract negotiations in the nfl is the signing bonus. if they sign him at 3 years at 15 million he will never see all of that money.
think of last years offense davis, carr, aj, bradford, gaff, non existen tight end Mathis potentially this years Bush, Davis, Carr, Aj, Moulds, Walter, Putzier (Mathis all pro Kick returner speed burner wr) this is one hell of an improvement from last years on paper at least
I like Moulds as #2 reciever. Last year everytime Holcumb started he played great and had some major yards and catches. When Lohsman was in there they tended to freeze Moulds out of the offense and that's what caused so much of the problems between him and the Bills. He would have definitly put up better numbers last year if Holcumb was the starter all year. Im really excited about this upcoming year. They have really put an effort in getting some players on this team.
I like Moulds and think he would be a perfect #2 WR. I added 2 seats to my season tickets and moved closer towards the middle, but the per seat price is the same. Could this be any more cool?
Not really anything new... article by John Clayton writes that its between us and the eagles also that the trade should be coming soon. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2390132
I dunno. I'm just saying that, if Eskin is the only source, be skeptical. Sounds like there are some people in Houston confirming that there's smoke there, though. I'd put more stock in those guys.
