ripping on any team this early in the year is just stupid. like people on the Rockets part of the BBS who jump off the ship while we aren't playing particularly well with out T-Mac. OFcourse we aren't going to play well, he is a top-5 player in the league--lossing him hurts us as a team. But we are still gelling as a team. I think that's been the thing with the 76ers. CWebb and AI are still getting to know each other a bit. Korver couldn't do squat for whatever reason those first 3-4 games (looked good last 2 though). AI2 (Iggy) is a freak, so atheltic I can't even explain it. I've seen him play in person and it's just stupidfying watching him at times. Oh yeah, and the guy who holds their D together in the middle (Dalembert) has yet to suit up. I think Mo Cheeks is a great coach. He can see everything on the floor- part of being a former high calibur PG in the league. Let the team get to know their coach a bit. If in a month or two the 6ers are still so "terrible," than jump off the bandwagon.
it burns, it burns!! Philly is burning!!!!! don't look now, the 76ers just won their fourth straight and lead ther division at 4-3... I'm not even a Sixers fan, but just goes to show you shouldn't say I told you So three games into the season...
You do remember that the Rockets started off a horrible 6-11 last year and didn't get over .500 until after new year's day don't you? And they turned all of that around to win 51 games in the tough, tough Western Conference! So how can you say a team with Iverson, Webber, Igoudala, and Dalembert can't compete or even win the crappy division their in? Kind of a dumb comment don't you think? Sure the Nets are the favorites in that division, but the 76ers can definitely get a 7th or 8th spot in the East. You were probably one of the same guys who last year after the bad start wanted Francis and Mobley back. Last I checked the season was 82 games long, not 3, patience, new coach, new system. I'm not saying they're a great team, but they're a playoff team and no where near as bad as you make them out to be. Brian
Dear Brian, Uh yes, I remember the slow start last year. Yes I remember the season is 82 games. No, I didn't say the Sixers couldn't compete in the conference or couldn't win their sorry division. I said they probably wouldn't make the playoffs. If that bothers you, tough. Um, no, I wasn't one of the ones who wanted SF and Cat back after the slow start. SF is about as low on my totem poll as anyone. (I suggest you browse the forum a bit more often). Brian, I'll tell you what's dumb: Misquoting someone, putting words in their mouth, thoughts in their head and then calling THEM dumb. You are the dumb one. Like you said, the season is 82 games. Let's see how the EC looks at the end. In reality, you are dumber than you think I am. Next time, get your facts straight before calling someone else dumb.
Well u shouldnt of started a whole damn thread saying philly is doomed.. and then say I TOLD YOU SO in teh first sentence.. cause it looks like philly is doing pretty good.. yet its still too early to tell. But u sure made it sound like the sixers were doomed and that mo cheeks is a horrible coach..
The "I told you so" referred to Mo Cheeks as an NBA coach. I still feel that way and it will eventually show in Philly IMO. He's been rejuvenated in his new job but that will wear off. If memory serves me, the Sixers were the only team in the NBA interested in him and there is a reason for that. And without his history there as a player, Cheeks would be without a job. On a personal level, I think Cheeks is a great guy. I've respected him ever since his days as a player. Philly looks OK right now after some decent wins, but it's a long season. Head coach aside, they need Webber to perform all season as a solid compliment to AI. In the latter stages of the season, it's tough for me to imagine him performing well. Maybe he will surprise and they win the division, which may be their best chance at the playoffs, but I'd bet on the Nets right now. If forced to predict the odd team out for seeds 4-8 between the Sixers, Wizards, Cavs, Bulls, Bucks and the Pacers/Pistons non-division winner, I'd choose the Sixers. If Brian had avoided twisting what I said, putting words in my mouth, putting me on the wrong side of the Tmac/SF trade during the first part of last year and using the word "dumb" there wouldn't have been any problem. I have no problem if someone points out when I'm wrong (it happens often enough ), but get the facts straight and leave out the name calling. AND I might still be right about the Sixers.
Threads about how teams are rocking/doomed for the season after a few games are so silly. I'm surprised we didn't get another thread for the Lakers after they celebrated their third win.
emjohn, You are right on target with the AI, Webber scenario... That team has no chemistry, not enough basketballs for everyone to play with. AI, will never win a championship until he learns how to play team ball. The guy is talented and can play, but no where near a team player. T_Man
I didn't misquote you moron. You said that the Sixers were toast. You never said that they probably wouldn't make it, you never said they had a chance. Everything in your post suggests that the Sixers are done and have no chance. Now you say lets see how the Eastern Conference looks at the end of 82 games, well you didn't say that in your original post. You were saying that the sixers were done and you were really smart cuz you called it and pointed it out after 3 games. You however never said any of the stuff you claimed you did in your reply to me. So how I misquoted you I'll never know. Yes you did say that they won't be last in their conference, but you never said how well they would do. How can I assume that you think they'll still compete and aren't done and have a shot at the playoffs if you don't say it? I can't, and everything you did say was dooms day for philly. So before you say I misquoted you, why don't you have a clue what you did say, here's a hint, scroll up!
Face it apostolic3, you are wrong. Philly is not done and suggesting that they are after 3 games is DUMB! If you agree with all of us that it's silly to say a team is dead after 3 games when it's an 82 game season, then what's the whole point of the thread? I wasn't saying that you actually said you wanted Francis and Mobley back last year after the Rockets tough start, I was only saying that you were the type of person that I heard complain about the trade last year. You know, the type that overreact to games in November. It's silly to do so and you did it. I'm not saying you yourself are dumb, I'm just saying that what you said was dumb. I didn't put words in your mouth about francis, I said you reminded me of those type of people, not that you actually said it. I never misquoted you, sorry if you misunderstood me, but that's your fault.
time to lock this thread.... The Sixers have won their sixth straight since this thread was made, leading their division at 6-3... nice call apostolic3
Brian, did you even read post #3 in this thread? Please see bold print below. In case you don't understand the English language, "I think" denotes an opinion, not an absolute fact, which leaves open various outcomes. My opinion hasn't changed. If the Sixers don't beat out the Nets (which I doubt they will), seed #8 is a reach for them. I'll "face" being wrong when the season is over. We will see. BTW, Brian, grow up.
I was referring to your original post. I didn't misquote you from your original post, because that's the one from which you started crying about me putting words in your mouth. Dont' bring up some post that happened later to make your point when I specifically said, original post! If you had read what I said then you'd know what's going on. BTW, learn this about the NBA, no team is done after 3 games genious.
OK Brian, calm down. You don't have to shout. I promise to try and learn more about the NBA. You win. OK?
Thanks. Glad this arguement is over. Not like I won, but I'm glad your no longer claiming all these bad things about me.
