Dallas is out of the race... Take back a bad contract DM... If we do not get value for Stacy, I wonder just how far off we are from contending...

    Several years possibly.

I think people are overlooking how well-rounded Iggy's game is. Are there better pure scorers, maybe so, but how many swingmen (that we could actually trade for) can match his assists, rebounds, and defense. Is he considered a star player now? No. Should he be? Maybe so. The NBA and media overvalue PPG and undervalue other areas of contribution.

I would give up any single one of our wings as a throw-in to trade for Iggy/Dalembert at this point. Even Budinger, who probably has the most value. I would feel reasonably confident that we had a contending team next year with those two players.

Hows about something like a T-mac and Aaron to Chicago for Brad Miller, Luol Deng, and John Salmons. Then Battier, Bud, and Cook to Phillie for Iggy.

I like this but then who plays PG? Start Lowry and bring Llull in?

I'd take Dalembert and skip Iggy. I like Iggy but that contract would kill us for years. Dalembert would make a nice C backup and would fill the hole as we are 1 big donut team this year. Plus we need to get someone that can give Yao more time to recover and not have to play Yao for 35+ minutes next year. And Sam's in a contract year next year which I think would motivate him. But if he's not, then we either resign him real cheap or release him. ie. Low risk.

Edit: Actually I keep forgetting about Sam's trade kicker...Unless the 76er's kicked in cash to cover that for this year and next (which I doubt they would), then I'd pass.

I think Iggy would be fine depending on who else is on the team. I think Houston is minus 6 pieces and plus 4 pieces away of being a serious threat in the Western conference and that is even with Dalembert. I think i know, but i'm not even going to bring it up. Just so you know nobody really has guessed it either. It's on a grand scale of variety. By looking at it i would think it's a pretty fair trade if it were the one. Maybe a team will pull back with something greater to be done this offseason rather than pass on the opportunity.

I just read the article. To paraphrase:

    - I think he said that the Rockets were more interested in Iggy than Butler: Moot point because Butler's gone, but I'm suspicious of the truth of this assertion b/c it might be spin control

    - Philly wants young talent, not just expirings for Iggy. And the Rockets may or may not regard Iggy as elite enough to take on the financial commitments. That's basically in line with clutchfan speculation.

IMO - the same questions remain:

    1. Are the rockets willing to give up Scola and/or Buddinger? (I can't see them trading Brooks or Landry, unless Speights comes back our way). I think we might be willing to. It all depends on our evaluation of Iggy.

    2. Is Les willing to eat these contracts, assuming Dalembert is coming too? I think it's unlikely. Not enough bang for the buck, as follows. Let's assume it's Iggy/Dalembert for Tmac/Scola/Buddinger (and no, I'm not sure I'd do that).

We'd go to battle with the following lineup next year, with no Scola or MLE:

    Brooks/Lowry
    Iggy/Taylor
    Ariza/Battier
    Landry/Hayes/Dorsey
    Yao/Dalembert

IMO, if Yao is healthy, this team could land the 2-4 seed in the West, and could get to WCF. Not a title contender against the Lakers.

    3. Is Scola, Buddinger and dumping Dally and Iggy's financial commitments enough to entice Philly? I think it's close. Maybe not, b/c there's not a splash, but it's close.

So, let's keep tracking this. I aint over yet, and I'm still getting splinters sittin on the fence.

I doubt any of those guys get moved. Teams look past the talent we do have by looking at what plays night in and night out and that is how it's percieved. Scola, Brooks, Landry, Budinger - these guys i doubt gets moved.

i still think the cavs get murphy...but what they are trying to do with cleveland involves us. We wouldnt get amare...cleveland would.

I dont know the exact deal as its everchanging...but hickson, danny green, either Z or wally, jason richardson, maybe a 1st would be coming to us. Not sure about delonte west.

we would move out green,iguodala,dalembert..and possibly kapono...i believe green is to cleveland...the rest to phoenix.

its not close...just aggressively talking with the other two teams.....i got the feeling that phoenix and cleveland needed a 3rd team to get amare to cleveland.

dallas is obviously out now...with them getting butler apparently.

houston is really the only other talk out there right now.....but the "attempt" on the 3 way will take priority for now anyway.

yeah i think keeping green and not getting richardson makes more sense for us.

cleveland and phoenix are still talking two team deal in some scenarios with us on the curb.

i think renewing houston talks is the backup plan....

    Interesting.

Let's hope Cleveland gets Stoudemire. I always had the sense that Philly was bluffing when they said they wanted talent back, etc. They were trying to get Stoudemire. Now that he looks to be going to Cleveland or staying in Phoenix, who does Philly turn to...the Rockets.

Is the trade kicker per season for the remaining length of the contract? For some reason, I assumed it was a one time payment.

But, it would suck if that three team deal went through for Phoenix-Cleveland-Philly. The Rockets, after looking like the team that could do whatever they wanted, get absolutely owned in the trade talks. Let's hope not.

To be honest, I don't know. I used to think that it was a 1 time hit as well but then I read somewhere where it tacked on the contract. I'm not sure which is true.

    Bima?

Kind of a moot point as Dalembert's contract expires next season. But, IIRC, it's a one time payment.

Don't agree on the "moot point," as it would impact the following season (we'd be talking about him this time next year), but thanks for the info.

It's a one-time payment (due immediately upon acquiring him), but the trade kicker amount is prorated over the life of his contract.

That means that his cap figure goes up this year AND next year. That could cost Les additional luxury tax in two separate seasons.

    No, thanks.
