If you are going strictly off numbers then Shane Battier, Chuck Hayes, and Kyle Lowry would be in the D-league. When you watch the games, you see what guys contribute.

Of course his numbers took a hit this season. He had Gilbert Arenas come back from being out a year and a half, putting up 25 shots a game that wasnt there before.

You got Jamison healthy again putting up 25 shots a game.

To me the the +/- is the best stat going in the NBA, which your boy Iggy is HORRIBLE at. He is at -0.55 per min for the season!

I'm not supporting an Iggy trade or a Butler trade, but just stating a fact..

I dont think Iggy's really struggling as much as you think he may be. His numbers have dropped since Iverson rejoined the Philly. Instead of Iggy taking about 13-20 shots/game, he's taking about 7-12/game.

Even though his scoring is down and shooting is down, he's still contributing in other ways (rebounding, assists, defense).

Iguodala put 25 on LA and hit the game winner and it still doesn't mean anything

his point about watching Butler perform well against other good teams is no different

I think the same can be said about Caron Butler too.

If you go into the game expecting to lose, knowing you dont have enough talent on the team to put up a fight, your perfomance would suffer as well. And Caron Butler's been going through this for the last few years now.

Both are good players, not great, close to the same tier, but its the contracts, that make me not like the Philly deal. Washington has so many expiring contracts that would help us re-sign our players (Scola and Lowry) to the raises they deserve and use the MLE (almost 6mil) at least. The Philly trade kills all of that! Look at the cap numbers again, and figure the increase in salaries. Have you really looked into all that when forumlating your opinion?

I've steadily said that contractually obviously Butler is more enticing

from an age/athletic performance standpoint I'm far more interested in Iguodala going forward

I don't think his contract is astronomical, he's young, and although it's impossible to project accurately he probably has more room to grow. As it sits the younger player is outperforming Caron Butler, and I'm not inclined to believe the older Butler is the guy that will show the most improvement elsewhere.

So it seems you're wanting to save money for 2010-2011 FA...what 1 or 2 guys do you sign that will make us a "championship caliber" team??

You guys think money buys championships?

I want this team to be competitive for longer than 1 year.

The Lakers and Boston sure do skimp on the cash in order to stay competitive!

For all the guys with minimal NBA cap knowledge, let me say this. The collective bargining agreement between the the players and owners expires and will be re-negotiated next summer (2011). In that summer, the CBA will fight to lower NBA players salaries by 25%. To break it down, Mcgrady is getting paid max right now which is about $23 million dollars. Under the new construction, a mac player would make about $18 million dollars. Well that works its way down to all the other players too in free agency in 2011 and beyond.

Taking on Iggy for 5 years at $12million could net you the same tier player but at 25% less (about $9mil per) if you signed them in free agency after 2011.

With this in mind, Butler expires in the summer of 2011. Giving the Rockets more money coming off the books (+Yao, Battier) in that summer.

With a Iggy deal, we would put our own free agents this summer in jeopardy, and the free agent class for next summer too.

Looking into the future, it would be a very risky gamble to go that route!!

Do you know how much money their owners make off the team compared to Les? Do you want attendance figures, merchandise, or grand total?

Can we expect Yao to be so effective after 2011?

If we have to fill that void at a later date we've got an issue far more serious than trying to add solid options to pair with a hopefully still effective Yao between say now and 2011
