Well personally the best McGrady trade probably revolves around Golden State and their #3 pick

All-star free agent? That is not going to happen this summer, and we will not find a better player than Iguodala for a better salary...

As DM has stated, It is "through trade" that this team needs to add a star... Building a team through free agency does not work...

We will never get enough talent to compete with the Lakers if FA and draftpicks are all we got...

Yeah but we'd have to cultivate that Rookie. Sure #3's a lotto pick and he might be thaty much better but certainly no better at bringing us to championship contendership like Iggy and Yao would next year.

Fine by me, but unless we are setting ourselves up for a total rebuild when Yao expires, I don't see how you would not take talent even If it means taking on a contract.

    Well consider this:

McGrady was better then Iggy and we missed the second round everytime. He is a 3rd option at best. lolz if you think Iggy will reign in a championship you'll be disapointed.

3rd option at best? That is ridiculous... McGrady was better offensively, but not in Rick Adelman's system. Andre Iguodala will play within the offense.

Even still, He is an elite defender, an elite athlete and a great passer. He has proven that he can score 18 points a game on 45-47 percent shooting.

Yao Ming-Aaron Brooks-Carl Landry-Andre Iguodala... He can be the 3rd/4th option on OUR championship team.

Individually, McGrady may be better than Iggy. But that doesn't mean the team will produce worse results if it had Iggy. Iggy might fit a lot better into the team's gameplan.

You know what? It's because they probably already have a better deal that beats this.

    Ummmmmmm,

If we could get GS's lottery pick and Anthony Randolph along with Biedrins and either Maggette or Monta for McGrady, Dorsey, Taylor......I would have to think long and hard about that.

    Brooks/Lowry
    Maggette/Budinger
    Ariza/Battier
    Hayes/Biedrins
    Scola/Landry/Randolph

and then add Yao and a possible lottery pick to that next season?????

The more I think about it........the more I like it.

Biedrins.......tall, athletic, interior presence, very good defensively, runs like a gazelle, overpaid yes, but for a backup center, especially a backup center to Yao, and especially on a team coming in on a 2nd unit whose sole purpose is to run, run, run it down the opponent's throats, he's a great fit.

If you had to think longer than a nano-second on that you'd be a slow reactor. No way, more the shame, that it ainta gotta chance. :(

He'd be a great addition no doubt, even at the expense of Lowry who they'd be sacrificing is still an upgrade to Lowry, but not by taking back Williams who wont even crack our rotation next season for that kinda salary, unless they find a feasible 3rd team who can take him on. Other then that, they are holding out listening around the league incase a better deal approaches imo.. I'm not saying Iggy is a bad player. Matter fact he is similar to Marion who don't need the ball to dominate and can play off the ball. He's an 3rd option an elite role player just a notch above ultimate role player same class as Marion.

Flawed logic, that was with a different supporting cast. We got past the first round with Yao/Artest/Brooks and gave L.A all they could handle with Brooks/Scola and a very unimpresive Artest for that series. Iggy/Yao/Brooks/Landry/Scola. I completely agree with knote32, this wouldbe a solid team with a mix of youth and vetrans who could be competitive for a while. Barring injuries of course.

knote32, I think you've made it quite clear that you are a fan of Andre Iguodala. I agree with you that he is the single best player that the Rockets can realistically hope to obtain with McGrady's contract.

However, what most of the posters with whom you've been arguing have been asserting is that Iguodala is not good enough TO MAKE IT WORTH THE ROCKETS' TOTAL FINANCIAL COMMITMENT relative to obtaining a "lesser" player with a far smaller financial commitment, Caron Butler being the best example of a player who (while not quite as good or young as Iguodala) can be had for far less financial commitment.

Not only is Iguodala owed another $56M over the next four years after this season, but the Rockets apparently would have to take back Dalembert's contract as well.

Bottom line: If the Rockets make a McGrady for Iguodala/Dalembert trade AND want to retain Scola and Lowry next season, the total cost to Les Alexander for the 2010-11 season alone will be about $40 million. Maybe more.

Iguodala's a very good player and all.

But that's a LOT of money.

Too much money to shell over for any player short of Chris Paul.

Sure, if the Rockets could get Iguodala and would only be stuck about $5-6M above the luxury tax threshold, then his talent might be worth the commitment. But $40M???? No freakin' way.

Let's just clear the air knote32

Iggy is great. He's a fantastic player and anyone would be lucky to have him on their team.

But He is not a star. He is not worth the hardship of taking on salary.

If it were Chris Bosh I'd say go for it because Bosh is a Star.

you can't build a Championship team around Iggy.

My guess is that you have not watched Caron Butler this season.

I'd rather suit up Von Wafer for the minimum, or just give Chase the minutes...
