there is no way the rox pull this one off. there are too many guards, and i dont think chauncey is one of those, 'ill take a pay cut to try and win it all' type guys... hes already won it all, so i think hes gonna go where the money is

Billups is a really good player, but we have a lot of guards now. I'd move em to get Billups, though.

There could be some drama in this signing. Pistons are offering a contract starting at 10M, he wants 12M. If they do give him 12M they will most likely lose Amir Johnson if they intend to stay under LT, ie if another teams offer's Johnson a 3.5M contract or more.

Another issue is he's 31/32 surely they'd be hesistant about giving a guy that age a 5/6yr contract starting at 12M.

Espn is reporting that Billups's agent denied a 5 year 60 million deal.

Your post is misleading, Billups's agent "denied that his client had agreed to a contract that could be five years and worth $60 million"

Thinking that a three way deal would have to happen to get him. We would have to move some of our guards and perhaps Battier to get the guy. Not bad. I'd take Billups in a heartbeat.

Billups is overrated. He owes everything to his teamates, who are unselfish and good finishers. Billups showed in the playoffs last year and this year that he's one dimensional as a point guard and has no idea how to control the tempo of the game. He slows down the tempo of the game at the worst possible moments. You don't beat Shaq and the heats with a half-court set... The way he handles the ball, the Pistons has to go 1v1 every possession without significant matchup advantage.

You're wrong. There, I said it...

But seriously, Chauncey is a top 5 PG in the world. They don't call him Mr. Big Shot for nothing dude...

That would be a good point if we were trying to sign him for the MLE. But nobody has mentioned undercutting Billups' check on this board.
Note my earlier trade proposal of Shane (5.8mil), Rafer (4.5mil), Luther (1.2mil), Sura's insurance (2.8mil -1mil guarenteed-) and a 2008 first rounder (~1mil). That makes roughly 14 million to S&T for Billups & Amir. Billups would take the lion's share of that at 11mil and Amir takes 2-3mil depending on negotiation.

Why would Billups be worth the new $50million contract over 4 years you ask? Simple, observe our PG performance with Rafer last year in the Utah playoffs during crunch time with that timely turnover. An incident even TMac himself said was a huge momentum shift.
Or take 2 years before that with Mike James' costly tantrum in the Dallas playoffs that affected the outcome of the series.

We need maturity and steadiness with our starting PG if we're going to make it out of the Western playoffs alive. Billups is a proven, I say again proven clutch performer and pressure doesn't bother him. And just to throw in a bonus, Amir is a potential starter at PF if given time. And we're talking all 6'11 of him along with the athleticism.

He's easily the best PG at creating half-court offense in the league. He's in the top 3 or 4 PGs in the league at running an offense. He's arguably the best defensive PG in the league (Hinrich deserves consideration). And he's one of the best distance shooters at PG in the league. One-dimensional? Overrated?

Why does everyone want to trade Luther Head. He is a good player... ranked 6th in three point shooting and ill bet he wont play much point guard next season after us getting so many. SO you cant realy put him in the point guard catagory any more.

He's one of the 'touchables' with value...probably the most value.

Head and Battier are two guys that are well worth the money, but if you have the chance to pull a top-tier player, you ship them off like you would V-Span and his pansy butt.

I told my boy like 3 weeks ago that this was my top trade ... but it ain't going to happen. :(

Billups wants his loot more than anything right now and anything you hear about other teams showing interest (Rockets included) will be nothing more than putting pressure on D-Town to up the ante.

He's getting old, and he didn't look that great the 2nd half of the season. It'll take Suns-like luck to get a 31 yr old guard with 3 or 4 more years left of MVP caliber experience.

Lol, top five in the world? I agree NBA is very famous internationally, but a US league cannot represent the whole world.. :D

P.S. I do agree Billups is one of the top 5 points guard in the league right now. Nash, Kidd, Paul, Iverson (kind of a point guard), Billups, D Williams...
