With the changes made to the team, maybe RA decides to tweak the system up a little.

Les hired Morey and is exhibiting full faith in him. There is not two men that are on the same page any more than Les and Darryl.

Reposted from another thread, but it fits here:

I think the bottom line is this:

It would seem that Washington would be willing to give away Caron Butler and expiring deals for Tracy McGrady if they don't have to include anything else valuable. So, you compare any other potential trade in comparison with this baseline-scenario.

For those who want to take on Dalembert to get Iguodala, is the difference between Iguodala (with his contract) and Butler (with his contract) great enough for the Rockets to want to either (1) spend an extra $12 million + in tax considerations (in addition to the salaries to be paid) to bring back Chuck, Scola and Lowry, (2) letting Chuck Scola and Lowry go, or (3) dump Shane Battier (and probably lose either Chuck or Lowry at least) for free?

And I think they are both on the same page regarding not paying the luxury tax unless for a Chris Paul caliber superstar.

Thanks for agreeing with me on this, CH.

Some people around here (even intelligent posters like jopatmc and DD) seem to forget what Morey JUST said on the radio yesterday. The Rockets are viewing next year's luxury tax threshold as their "real salary cap". I don't think he could get any clearer than that.

And to reiterate your point, Les is willing to go over the tax for a "special" player. I agree that Iguodala falls a little short of this caliber.

    Tmac + Cook ==> Iggy + Dalembert + Holiday

If the Rockets are looking for young talent, we should really try to get Jrue Holiday, a big athletic 6'4" point guard, only 18 years old, has great potential as an elite defender and elite player in a couple of years. I'm not sure if the Sixers are willing to part with all that potential... but from the Rockets point of view, if we lose Kyle Lowry down the road, Holiday could make up for him.

But if you could flip the players acquired......would it work?

Iguodala for Minnesota's expirings and Rubio?

Hell, Iguodala to all sorts of third teams. Iguodala + Scola for Bosh?

(Would Sacramento still want Dalembert? Could we get him for KThomas' expiring?)

Any deal involving Kyle Lowry is BIG "NO"!! YOu don't give away bulldogs and Lowry is one of our bulldogs!!! YOu know what bulldogs do in the Playoffs?? Yea, they step it up...in BIG GAME!!

    How about this:

    Iggy+Brand+Kapono

    FOR

    Tmac, Ariza and Landry

So our lineup will be Yao, Brand, Battier, Iggy, Brooks

Off the bench. Hayes, Scola, Kapono, Lowry, Budinger, Anderson

I got to thinking here, maybe they can send Brand with pick or both if needed to a third team.

Assuming Iguodala (and his contract) has that kind of value, sure. However, is Minny, for example, in a position to take on a long term committment? Iggy didn't prevent Philly from sucking, what will he do for Minny?

With Bosh, you run into the same tax dilemma-- he's gonna get paid the max, even after flipping Iggy and Scola for him, Bosh's salary, plus Dalemberts will take the Rockets into luxury tax territory. Is Bosh "special" to Les? Or would Les simply prefer to go with a Butler type of trade and keep his own guys?

I can see possibly a Iggy flipped for expiring + draft pick scenario, if the pick is high enough. I can't see Iggy flipped for a high paid star due to the tax implicaitons unless it's Chris Paul level guy we are talking about.

So I guess I'm the only one that thinks AI is overpaid, and for quite a while? Doesn't Morey like production that exceeds salary?

So you are willing to trade Landry but you won't trade Lowry??? Are you crazy? Landry is a huge reason why we are winning right now. According to your theory you don't trade bulldogs. I think pitbulls is the more appropriate term but either way, Landry is one of those bulldogs.

Including Landry in any deal that doesnt get us one of the best players in the league is dumb in my opinion. Landry is young and improving still. You don't trade Landry for Iggy, at least not in my opinion. Id also be giving up Lowry before I started considering Landry.

If there is any way we can land Iggy and Camby in this deal it'd make my day.

IGGY might be overpaid, but that's not the point. The guy is a bigtime talent who can be added to our nucleus. So what if he's making 2 -3 million a year too much. You take the deal........Especially with Dalembert giving us what we need now and becoming insurance against Yao/expiring next year. The Rockets contend now and in the near future.

People seem to have forgotten all about Chris Bosh. With that in mind, I know Morey is working on the TRUE blockbuster deal of the century and that trade is the following...

    Chris Bosh to Houston

    TMac to Philly

Brand and T Young to Toronto OR Dalembert and Speights or Williams to Toronto

    Iggy to Houston

    All salaries match up.

Toronto gets a big and a young talent for Bosh, Houston gets young talent back for TMac, and Philly saves a boatload of cash. We can throw in a #1 pick if necessary. Houston is an instant favorite for the title.

    Elton Brand

    Andre Iguodala

    Marreese Speights

    for

    Tracy McGrady

    Trevor Ariza

    Luis Scola
