I may think about taking Elton Brand if we can get Iggy, Speights, and Young in the deal. Brand is way overpaid, but I think he can still contribute. He is at least a quality bench player. The only problem with this is that we go over the luxury tax, and we're stuck with a bad contract for a long time. That team could compete for a championship. It has no superstars besides Yao, but a lot of quality players. Also, there is a lot of young talent that could easily be traded.

    T-Mac/Cook for Brand/Iggy/Speights/Young

    C Yao, Speights
    PF Scola/Landry/Brand
    SF Young/Ariza/Battier
    SG Iguodala/Budinger
    PG Brooks/Lowry

Of course, if Iggy/Dalembert is available for T-Mac, Morey has to take it. That's the obvious deal, but he could consider something like this.

Is this even under the cap? Brand is making the max, I don't know how you can affor Iggy, yao, brand and still keep Landry and Scola.

If they're willing to give up Speights, Young they'll be willing to tradeaway Dalembert.

IF Morey is right and he has lots of good deals the team will be set right after the trading deadline. Something will be done and I can't wait till the Feb. 18th. I will be a non factor at work that day waiting for the trade to be announced.

If Les wanted to do this he could. However, this would put us so far over the LT and with Brand it would be for a long time not just one year so the real question is.... Would Les do it? Getting Iggy, Speights and Young is very tempting (If Philly would through all of those in which is doubtful) but Brand for another 3 or 4 years with that contract would certainly kill the salary cap for a long time.

The chances of getting a franchise player are evn slimmer. Joe johnson is not a max player, sorry and he's hitting 30. Bosh is a top tier talent, but i highly doubt the rockets can compete with other packages offered from other teams. I'm a realist and franchise players are drafted mostly not traded for garbage. Addig that 5-8 wins as you suggest but having playersthat are getting better is a recipe for a ring. It may not be easy, but nothing is as far as winning a title.

I say acquire Iguodala only if another move is made prior to acquiring him.(Maybe a guy like a Stoudemire or a Bosh though that appears to be wishful thinking. The only move imo in this scenario where McGrady doesnt necessarily have to be involved would be a Bosh deal.)
Iggy + what we have now, I'm not sure how far that will get us or if it puts us over the top.

Andre Iguodala is the best player we could get. I doubt he's even available. I've never heard one rumor from a reliable source about 76ers putting him on the block. They're trying to ship out Dalembert and Brand without the cost of their young players. I heard Sacramento is willing to take Dalembert, maybe they don't need to deal Iguodala for financial relief after all. Most probably Iguodala stays on that team unless Philly wins the lottery and picks the almighty John Wall.

The Sixers are only growing more determined to make a deal before the deadline. I’ve heard that in strong terms from three different sources this week already.

Which tells me we should expect to keep hearing more trade scenarios that include Andre Iguodala’s name.

Foiled in its longstanding attempts to move Samuel Dalembert and/or Elton Brand, Philly has apparently come to realize that its best shot at a shake-it-up move is convincing one of the risk-taking/big-spending teams out there – such Houston, Dallas and Cleveland – to absorb the four years and $56.3 million remaining on Iguodala’s contract after this season.

Not that I’d give the Sixers great hope of hooking Cleveland.

The Cavs are still chasing a big man that can stretch the floor with 3-point range and continue to hope they can get one by peddling Zydrunas Ilgauskas’ expiring contract.

Washington’s Antawn Jamison and Indiana’s Troy Murphy remain Cleveland’s top targets – with the further hope that Big Z will be released by his new team and thus eligible to be re-signed after a 30-day wait like Antonio McDyess in Detroit last season -- as opposed to pursuing the likes of Iguodala or Golden State’s highly available Corey Maggette.

Iguodala and Maggette have both been known to masquerade at the 4 spot in a small-ball setup but can’t really be classified as power forwards.

Heres what was on ESPN today......

Funny how that ESPN article mentions Dallas, Cleveland, and Houston as the deep-pocketed teams willing to spend.

The exact three teams Morey mentioned yesterday on one of the radio call-in shows (790 or 1560; he called both yesterday).

People keep thinking that Iggy is such a no-brainer, but he's paid like a very good 2nd banana, when he's really a very good 3rd banana. If we took him, and Dalembert in a trade I would want 1, or probably 2 of Speights, Young, and Holiday thrown in.

I would not want Brand('s contract) under any circumstances.

Doesn't exactly sound like they're having their doors beat down to get A.I.

Agreed. I really dont think Iggy lives up to his contract for the amount of years he has on it. I understand that Philly thinks he does and he is the sweetner in the deal. Iggy+Dalembert for Tmac I would do, but if they want us to add young talent, they better add some themselves. Im perfectly fine with letting Tmac's contract expire.

I disagree with this. The guy puts up 19/6/5+ per game on 45% shooting over the last three seasons and has not missed one game during that stretch. He does all that and gives you defense that is at least as good as Trevor Ariza's has been for us. He is the epitome of a guy who should be a second banana but is forced to be the number one guy and is STILL very efficient. I think he is slightly overpaid toward the end of the contract but it's not that bad. I think Morey knows that to make the next step he is going to have to pay someone big money. We can't contend with a bunch of guys who are good players with great contracts. The team needs talent even if it comes with a contract that isn't a great deal.

This current team plus Iguodala and Dalembert is a legit playoff team that has a chance against any team in the league in a seven game series. Add Yao next season and look out. Dalembert would be huge for this team too. If he doesn't knock Adelman's socks off then move his expiring deal next season.

I'm liking the Iguodala/Dalembert combination more and more for Houston.

Iguodala is a great 2-way player, and I was really sold on him last season. He'd be excellent with Yao, AB, and Landry for the future.

Dalembert, while not terribly useful next season once Yao returns, would be an excellent addition for the rest of this season. Why is our defense so much worse this year? No, it's not Ron Artest's departure, it's Yao Ming's missing presence. Dalembert would fill that defensively (but definitely not offensively). Our defensive would be massively improved, as would our offense with the addition of Iguodala.

I think even for this year... Dalembert is a HUGE upgrade from CHUCK HAYES at the starting Center position.

    Exactly what I said.

Chuck is still a better defender when the opposing team has a premiere low-post player (Bynum, Gasol, Howard, Shaq), but most teams don't and Dalembert would certainly be better not only this year, but next season as Yao's back-up too.

Plus, the Rockets have a habit of having really tall humanitarians on their team.

Unfortunately, that would make Dalembert not only overpaid, but an overpaid backup. Doesn't his trade kicker make him more expensive than Yao?

Agreed. They are not going to pay him that much money to back up Yao but he would be huge for us this year and a hell of a bargaining chip next season with that expiring deal.

I think of Dalembert as more of a rental that fits a need this team has right now.

I could live with that probably.
