It doesn't say anything other than:

The rumor about Tmac for Iggy and Dalembert doesn't seem to die and might just have legs. If Philly makes such a trade, Morey is a genius for getting Iggy for next to nothing, and Philly fans are screwed. But Philly can be a player in free agency in the summer if they make the deal.

All of this is speculation, probably based on the fact that no one for the 76ers has really denied it. Doesn't mean it'll happen, doesn't mean it won't.

Sad thing is, i think dallas is going to make that push and take dalembert and iggy for dampier and howard. That deal trumps anything the rockets can offer. In fact, dallas has the best trading pieces really of any team right now. They can offer a 10m team optioned player in howard and a 10m partial guaranteed contract of dampier. Both players are playing right now and at the end of the season, the team can wipe 20m off the books.

Last week, we discussed the possibility of the Sixers swapping Andre Iguodala for Tracy McGrady's expiring $22.4 million deal.

And as ESPN's Chad Ford notes today in his chat, it's still a trade scenario that has legs. Ford also tosses Samuel Dalembert into the mix as another chip in the deal. Iguodala and Dalembert are making a combined $23.5 million, so it's a deal that could work. (Previously we've noted that the market for Dalembert is otherwise pretty dry.)

Obviously, this would be a salary-shedding-blow-up-the-team move by the Sixers brass. They've been looking to pawn off Dalembert's contract for a long time, and without Iguodala's contract, which still has another four years on it and pays him $12 million, $13 million, $14 million and a player option for $15 million in those next four years, they'd have some money to work with.

And with $22.4 million off the books after this season, the Sixers could be around $9-12 million under the salary cap this summer depending on where it lands, and would thus have the opportunity to try and land one of this summer's big-name free agents.

    Chad Ford

Iguodala for T-Mac still in play

"The Sixers have been shopping Dalembert for two years. The Iguodala thing is new. I'm pretty skeptical they'd give those two guys away for T-Mac's expiring contract (T-Mac and AI on the same team ... wow). But I keep hearing enough rumblings about it that I think it has legs. If Darryl Morey can turn T-Mac into Iguodala ... I'm really impressed. That's a home run for the Rockets. As for Sixers fans ... a major disaster."

Morey needs to make this deal. I dont know what hes waiting for but if the Sixers are willing to do it we need to get on it. Caron Butler is not the solution for this team. So i dont know why we have him so high on our list. Thats the reason the Rockets are always at the same place, never take risk. Always conservative. Just take the risk. We will also get Dalembert a center we lack, and as of late hes been playing nice

trading half the team for charles barkley wasn't a risk?
trading an entire draft for eddie griffin wasn't a risk?
trading your entire starting lineup for tracy mcgrady wasn't a risk?
drafting a 7'6" skinny center that doesnt speak english and has never played against american competition wasn't a risk?
trading the starting point guard off a playoff bound team during the season last year wasn't a risk?

really? what exactly is risky to you?

Honestly, I agree. This is a deal that gives the shot-blocking presence that Mutombo gave us even if he's overpriced for two-years. I'm assuming they are evaluating how they could do this and keep their existing free-agents. They might have to part with one young player in this deal as well.

second round picks average about a 15% success rate in the NBA. if morey doesn't like taking risks, why would he stockpile second round picks that historically have an 85% chance of turning into nothing? it's like stockpiling lottery tickets. sure, you have a chance to turn your $1 into a million, but the overwhelming odds are that you just wasted your money.

morey takes risks. they are just calculated risks, and risks where if they go belly up they do not put the team in a bad position. those are the best kind.

Sure he has some great succes in 2nd round picks, but thats not going to get us over the top. Those are just guys that will help us on the way to the topp. Why not take a risk where you might be getting a steal in Iggy. Maybe he does btter then TMAC and play better around TMAC now thats a risk

because if you make the iggy+dalembert trade, and whatever else it might take to make that work, you are putting all your eggs in that basket. just like how Tmac held the team hostage with his long-term contract, you'd be in the same boat for years to come. if you are not convinced that Iggy is a superstar worth mortgaging your team's future flexibility for, then you don't make the deal. simple.

in this league, you need plus talent, and honestly unique talent is the only thing worth paying max for. iggy is near max, and its not a slam dunk that he's worth his contract.

they say that if you should never go to the store when you're hungry, cuz you'll make bad decisions and buy way more food than you need. the rockets are starving for a star. there's a lot of potential here for a questionable trade that ends up not being what the rockets really need.

Iggy is worth his contract because he plays every game and its safe to say he can keep this production up for the next 4 yrs. He's not max and he's not a great player, but neither was rip, tay,or chauncey, but they got paid similar. A team can compile a buch of 9-12m talenst that can play and be very successful. The chanes of getting a player as good as iggy are getting slimer by the day. the rockets wont have good enough cap room to get that guy you're lookin for. Dalembert is only on the books for 1 yr afer this one. He can be issurance in case yao doesn't recover or recovers slowly. Would i risk losing scola and lowry for iggy and dalembert? Yes, because we would be getting the far better player in iggy.

I cannot see the Rockets doing this move without a third team, there is just no way Brand / Dalembert will become a Rockets. Now Brand I can understand but Dalembert makes A WHOLE LOT OF SENSE !!
Hayes as a starting Center has proven to be a disaster and it needs to change now. The 2 guard spot is where we need change as well so Ariza can become that guy off the bench.

The reluctance of the Rockets getting a legit 7 footer behind Yao has and still concerns me. Yes, we have had Mutombo but even he was not valued enough by RA, Morey and the staff to get some playing time or be brought back. The only reason he saw the court was because of injuries and last year only brought back because Yao and T-mac wanted him. Dalembert is indeed the guy we can use now and next year.

Even if Yao is healthy next year and ready to go, they still have to take it easy and it will take years for him to become great again at worst. So it's good to have a little insurance, Hayes and Andersen do not cut it.

Morey please do this or when you make a deal with any other team, please include a legit Center who can block shots, pretect the paint and intimidate the other team.

the success of the pistons is the exception, not the rule. teams built that way very rarely succeed at the highest levels of competition. that's not the model a GM should aspire to build to, IMO.

the thing about Iggy is that its a case of opportunity cost. if you go get Iggy, that may cost you the opportunity to get Bosh, or Joe Johnson, or any other max to near-max player. There are a lot of things I love about Iggy, I love his intensity, his defense, his fearlessness, his athleticism, all of it. I honestly don't think there's a better SG to be had. but just because he's the best available right now does not mean he's the right player for the rockets long-term.

i'd rather the rockets make the RIGHT move for their long-term goals than just make a move to get 5-8 wins better this year but not build a championship level team. maybe iggy is a piece of that maybe not, but it's not a slam dunk by any stretch.

From a talent standpoint getting Iggy and Dalembert for TMacs expiring contract is highway robbery.

When salary's and salary cap scenarios are added to the mix it is suddenly not as good of a deal.

Iggy is better than any player currently playing on Rockets. I think acquiring him while only losing salary cap flexibility for one year should not be a deal breaker. I think it comes down to whether Les is willing to pay luxury tax to get him or if Morey can find a way to jettison Battier and Scola.

This would be the most logical trade scenario for Rockets, fills to wholes on the team shotblocking and a wing that can create his own shot.

Only thing I worry about, Iggy's not really a great shooter it'd be like a another ariza on the floor just with better ball handling.

Second round picks aren't much of a risk. Their contracts do not have to be gauranteed and they usually come at a very cheap price.

    Same here.

Today, I see that this trade fills our two needs. Both guys are overpaid but Iggy is probably very close in value to what he gets paid and Dalembert can be moved next season as an expiring deal.

I see a lineup with Iggy as the starter at SG with Ariza/Battier splitting SF (don't care who starts) and Dalembert splitting time with Hayes (sorry Andersen) capable of beating any team in a 7 game series. If not, you still have the 7'6" dude coming back next season along with a GM who seems to pull talent out of thin air.

The more I think about it, the more I trust Morey to turn any negatives in this trade (Dalembert's salary) into something positive in the future.
