Grizzlies recent success is due to Gasol and Randolph, and not Rudy Gay. That alone should tip you off, he's not even the best player on their team, and yet he'll probably end up making the most money.

Anyway back on topic IMHO the Rocket's pipe dream of getting both Bosh and Iggy could be done if hte Raps could be persuaded to absorb Dalembert's contract. The main obstacle is that Dalembert has a trade kicker which would increase his salary by around 15% IIRC. At 12 million Dalembert is already overpaid, paying him close to 14 mill a year? It sounds ridiculous.

I think DM should focus on making Dalembert for Bosh swap as good as possible, maybe he could add cash, C_Bud, our draft pick and Landry as sweeteners.

A Kobe-Battier comparison in disguise? Really? Wow Battier is a saint here.

each one of your posts degrades into worse and worse logic. You take variables as constants and try to act like you know without ever shedding a solid take. You take a shot at DD in your signature and yet at least he is ballsy enough to have a relevant take that is his.

step back from the keyboard. take you're black and white glasses off and realize that you are not always right.

the lakers have made horrific decisions personnel wise and were bailed out by Memphis. The Gasol move was widely considered one of the worst moves ever, from the Grizzlies perspective.

The Spurs gave away Scola. (who of course you hate because he's efficient and comes at a good value)

    Portland drafted Oden over Durant.

    The Clippers exist.

The battier deal has made us a better team. (but you will never step back and admit it, because Gay is the player every great team would select.)

So, in other words, no matter what evidence is presented to you about Shane Battier being more valuable than Gay, you will never change your mind.

Since when was profound ignorance and (more importantly) valuing that ignorance enough that outside evidence does not matter a good thing? If I said, "No matter what evidence you show me, you cannot convince me the sky is blue," everyone would rightly consider me insane. If I said, "No matter what evidence you show me, you cannot convince me that [insert modern scientific principle of your choice] is true," most people would rightly consider me a fool.

Simply declaring that nobody could ever convince you that the Rockets "won" the Battier trade demonstrates your foolishness.

The box score knights have arrived lol

Please take your ignorance into a new thread as this one was pretty good before it turned into Shane v Gay take 38.

I think I understand where the people against the trade are coming from and let me see if this makes sense to everyone else. We traded Rudy for Shane. Did it make our team better? Yes. Did it put us over the top to win a championship? No. Now think about this. Let's say we never make that deal. Rudy plays a lot, puts up numbers (considering how many injuries Yao and Tracy have had) during his first few years in the league. The Rockets probably would have had a worse record than they ended up having the last few years. In the grand scheme of things, does it really matter? I say no, since we were not winning a championship anyway.

Now, in theory we want to trade for Bosh. What is the more likely trade the raptors would take: Battier and Scola for Bosh or Rudy and Scola? Notice that now, we would not have to overpay Rudy for anything. I think it would have been possible to sell Rudy as the type of player you can build around (since he has been putting up numbers all of this time) and Rudy as an asset would have given the Rockets the better chance of landing the better player.

I don't think we got enough out of the Battier trade, even though I didn't want Gay. I'm know that very few if any admit to that. Lowry was picked with the 24th pick, and nearly everyone admits that he has made us better. The Grizzlies were intoxicated by Gay,and CD failed to get more out of them. Yes,they took Stro back, but CD could have pressed them harder. West called Gay,the 2nd best player that he ever drafted after Kobe, which was surprising to me.

Gay has done better this year too. Having Zach and M.Gasol has made things easier for him and the rest of the team. His lack of desire to play defense, and just to go for scoring/rebounding is not enough. If he played on both ends,he would have been a much better choice even with his inexperience than Battier. Roy would have been ideal, but he was gone by the 8th unfortunately.

I lost track of the Random Trade thread, but this one was suggested by Bill Simmons in his PodCast today:

Houston Trades: McGrady, Budinger, Scola, Cook
Houston Receives: Al Jefferson, Mark Blount, S. Pavlovic

Minnesota Trades: Al Jefferson, Mark Blount, S. Pavlovic, O. Pecherov, D. Wilkins
Minnesota Receives: McGrady, Budinger, Caron Butler

    Washington Trades: Caron Butler
Washington Receives: Scola, B. Cook, D. Wilkins, O. Pecherov

This deals largely around expiring contracts: McGrady, Cook, Blount, Pavlovic, Pecherov, Wilkins

    Checks out on Trade Machine

    Houston Rockets:

    PG: Brooks / Lowry
    SG: Ariza / J. Taylor
    SF: Battier / Ariza
    PF: Landry / Andersen
    C: Jefferson / Hayes / (Yao)

This leaves us pretty thin at SG/SF, but gives us an obvious target moving into this season's draft. However , the more I hear about the likelihood of a Bynum - Bosh swap, the more appealing the idea of a Yao-Jefferson combo would be.

    Close your eyes and imagine a Western Finals showdown 2011;

    Yao-Jefferson vs. Gasol-Bosh

    ... tastes good, doesn't it?

That is the problem though. We still have big glaring weakness or not having a go-to wing scorer. That is what this team needs. A true scoring SG (i.e. goes to the basket, not just shoots jumpshots all day) who is not defensive liability.

Speights would be great, but they're not that deep in the center spot, and with with the trade of Dalember looming I doubt they trade him....

Who I would like the sixers to include in a trade, would be their 2009 17th pick, Jrue Holiday(PG 6'4, 19 yrs old), the guy was the number one recruit coming out of high school in 2008, and he was over players that included Tyreke Evans, Brandon Jennings...etc(so he must have some talent :p )

I'd be willing to give them an asset like Taylor or Budinger so we could receive Holiday in return...., but then again I dont know how Phily. values holiday's talent, given that they have Lou Williams and Allen Iverson playing in front of him in the rotation...So we could possibly just get him as an add in to the trade of Iggy & Dalembert

Bruce Bowen would be proud of the defense being played on this thread's update.

stop talking about what COULD have been with rudy gay. the rockets organization would not have drafted him. we allowed memphis to select a player cause we traded our draft rights last minute for shane battier, and they chose rudy gay. if it were up to the rockets organization, we would have drafted Thabo Sefolosha
