Dumb question but in the article Tom Moore says the sources "indicated that may be off-base"...is he talking about the Sixers doing a fire sale if they continue to lose or the package would be Iggy/Dalmebert for McGrady?

Sixers confirm trade discussions with Rockets

http://www.phillyburbs.com/news/new...13/source-sixers-rockets-talking-trade-1.html

By: TOM MOORE
The Intelligencer
PHILADELPHIA - An NBA source confirmed Tuesday that the Sixers and Rockets have had discussions about Tracy McGrady.

Houston is looking to deal McGrady and his expiring $23 million contract by the Feb. 19 trade deadline.

An ESPN.com story Tuesday claimed the Sixers "hinted at a package of (Andre) Iguodala and Samuel Dalembert for McGrady," though the source said the Sixers "didn't hint."

"Houston is going through the league" seeking the best offer, according to the source. "Nothing is hot."

The ESPN.com story also said "the Sixers have not completely ruled out a Tracy McGrady-for-Andre Iguodala deal. The Sixers are contemplating a fire sale if their losing persists."

The source indicated that may be off-base.

McGrady, the league's highest-paid player in 2009-10, had microfracture knee surgery last Feb. 24 but is healthy now.

The Rockets are believed to have interest in packages from teams such as the Bulls (Joakim Noah) and Wizards (Caron Butler), among others.

The salaries of Iguodala ($12.2 million this season) and Dalembert ($11.5 million) match McGrady's within the allowable 25 percent trade differential. But Houston would have to be willing to pay Iguodala and Dalembert a combined $68.5 million beyond next summer.

Such a swap would take the Sixers from a $65 million payroll in 2010-11, which exceeds the expected salary cap of roughly $55 million, to about $14 million under the cap.

Advertisement Iguodala is owed $56 million over the next four seasons, with Dalembert set to earn $12.5 million in 2010-11. A team acquiring Dalembert would also have to pay a 15 percent trade kicker on the remaining money due to Dalembert within 30 days of a trade.

Houston is without a true center since Yao Ming's season-ending broken foot.

Unhappy with his playing time and the Sixers' losing, Dalembert asked to be traded a year ago, but the team was unable to work anything out. The Sixers apparently looked to deal Dalembert again over the summer and perhaps again in the fall.

"I just have to go out there and do my best," said Dalembert, a big man who is averaging 8.2 points, 10.3 rebounds and 2.6 blocks in the past eight games, on Tuesday. "Whatever happens, business-wise, I can't control."

Veterans rest

Sixers coach Eddie Jordan allowed veterans Iguodala, Allen Iverson, Elton Brand and Lou Williams to sit out Tuesday's short practice in preparation for tonight's home game against the offensive-minded Knicks. If the 12-25 Sixers are able to win, they'll have their first three-game streak of the season.

^first time ive heard of Joakim Noah, other than that nothing new.

Joakim Noah is obnoxious, but a very good rebounder.

And that would be the beauty to it. There are many pieces in play and many possible scenario's that could pan out great for us netting Bosh & Butler, I doubt Butler would be a piece to go more so Miller or Foye.

But that's why I'm expecting this to be a long grueling process for us that will take up to the deadline, again there is no guarantee that Bosh will even be traded if the Raptors decide to wait till the off season.

Hopefully Morey pulls some magic out of his wizard sleeve and gets us to the promise land!

For a second there, I thought "Advertisement" might be a nickname for AI that I didn't know about... Then I realized that it was probably just an advertisement on the website.

The funny thing is last trade deadline and again in the summer the Sixers wanted to trade us just Dalembert for TMAC. Now at least they're thinking about Iguadala. In all reality, I dont know how a team like the Sixers, who are a woeful 12-25, dont offer this deal to the Rockets. They'd get 14 mil under the cap next year (which could net them a player similar to Iguadala anyways) and have a top 5 lotto pick instead of being $10 mil over the cap, thus wasting another year of a rebuilding attempt. The bigger question I would think here is are the Rockets willing to take that much salary in return?

i haven't read everything in this thread, but it was interesting to learn that dalembert asked for a trade a year ago. makes me think he might care more than people think if he was tired of losing and not getting playing time even when he had 3 years left on his massive contract at the time.

also, what is the scouting report on noah? what has he done to improve so much this year? can he play pf or only c? i really have not watched him or the bulls at all this year. i have seen his numbers skyrocket this year. he is crushing the offensive and defensive boards. also by looking at his d-rating and defensive win shares on basketball-reference.com it looks like he is playing good defense.

any help would be appreciated!

If all the Rockets are going to get is Iggy and Dalembert, then the Rockets should let TMac's contract expire.

None of these suggested trades are good enough.

This is why my Trade proposal yesterday in another Thread works for the Rockets..

"This is the package we should offer plus a pick & cash.

Brooks,Scola,Ariza,Cook (to make it match $$) Plus future pick and CASH.

Obviously they will push hard for Landry but I think cash + future pick can help offset that.

Brooks: Really everyone is in love with him right now because honestly other than Landry he is our only true go to guy in crunch time. The reason why he is scoring in volume is because Yao,T-mac,Artest on not on the team.. Would he even have this many shot attempts if 2 out of 3 were still playing? Brooks is a shoot first pass 2nd pg.. We won't need a shoot first PG if we have Yao, Bosh, Budinger, Landry + whoever we can pick with a T-mac trade.

Remember people that the best ball distributer was actually Will Conroy during the summer league.. (You'll understand below)

Scola: Hopefully it will be him and not Landry

Ariza: He really is a poor shooter.. Look at his HISTORY!!!! He's never been that good of a 3pt shooter yet this team wants him to be one? Why? He's a HORRIBLE HORRIBLE 3pt shooter, his ball handling skills are definitely below average, and his FG% isn't all that.. Not to mention that he's eating up Budgingers playing time which I think is the better player in the long run. Let Chase develop now!!!

Cook: Have to add him because the trade only works with him in.. Besides he's an expiring contract.

Cash + Pick: This is what I think will ice the deal for Toronto..

Darryl Morey moved (actually traded) Will Conroy to the Vipers (Houston D-League) That is a fact! And this morning ( yes this morning ) can't remember if it was on 610 or 790.. The Vice President of Player Personnel/General Manager Rio Grande Valley Vipers.................................. Gersson Rosas spoke about how Will Conroy was recently acquired and that the move was fantastic for the Rockets Organization in case 1 of our 2 PG got injured or if there were any other situation... READ that... ANY OTHER Situation?? If that isn't a blatant hint I don't know what is.

I think the Love for AB is dually noted but he's not a player we need if we are going to acquire the scoring punch in Bosh + Yao + T-mac trade. Then you still have Landry and Bundinger as a scoring threat off the bench."

This is the truth right here and something I have been saying for a while. Everyone is on the Brooks bandwagon and that's great because he is a nice player but he isn't a 1st or 2nd tier scorer, he's a guy who is the best shooter on a team void of offensive talent. If he is your first or second option on offense you are not a contender. Furthermore, his decision making and passing skills are average at best so do you really want him on the court when you have two or three better scorers than him? Do you want a guy who isn't as good at putting the ball in the hole as they are AND lacks the ability to get those guys in the best position for them to do their thing.

Not to make this a Lowry vs. Brooks thing but if this team grabbed two solid scorers in a trade that team would be better with Lowry at the helm than Brooks. No doubt in my mind about that. When you factor in Brooks' high value I think he is definitely a guy the Rockets can part with in a trade for an elite player.

That is why we are not contenders now and will be in the near future. Yao and most likely whoever we get for tmac's contract will be our #1 and #2.

Brooks could develop into our 2nd scorer and he's almost proving he can this season.

Because it looks like this..

Aaron Brooks
Luis Scola
Brian Cook
Trevor Ariza (Horrible Shooter)
Cash
Future Pick
T-mac (Expiring Contract)

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>OR <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Chris Bosh (All-star Talent)
Iggy (Attacks the rim with ease and can shoot it
Sammy D ( Awesome weak side Blocker and rebounder, horrible contract but will expire after 1 year)

We still have Yao,Battier,Landry,Bundinger,Lowry, and Darryl Moreys ability to pick no names (This is HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!)

Um it's obvious...

Really? With who?

I addressed the Swift situation above. Also, Swift wasn't dealt until the off-season after playing a full year for the Rockets. In some posters scenario, Ariza would be traded PRIOR to completing a full year with the Rockets.

So, your Concurred sarcasm failed. Sorry.
