Giving up a key piece (Landry) AND our trade asset (McGrady's contract) AND taking on a bad contract (Brand) doesn't make sense just to get a key piece (Iguodala). I just don't think it would really improve the team appreciably.

Im thinking that realistically the best deal would be a Tmac + Ariza for Iggy + Dalembert.

Or rockets chuck in Anderson and philly chuck in Brezec to give Philly a bit more incentive.

Ariza = not going anywhere soon.

I thought we knew that already?(no matter how bad he sucks or no matter how bad we want him gone as fans)

Because Ariza signed a long-term contract this off-season with the Rockets promising him an opportunity to showcase his talents and letting his game grow. If they trade him, that will cause an awful lot of free agents to second guess Houston as their home when they're looking at long-term deals. It just makes the organization look bad.

That in no way means Morey doesn't want Iggy because of that. IMO, it's just that Ariza will NOT be involved in any deal, unless its a Wade/LeBron/CP3 deal.

Uh if a player is playing terrible he shouldn't be surprised if he gets traded.

Philly is not going to want Ariza, the last thing they want is another long term contract.

Except the Rockets are starting him and encouraging him to do everything you're complaining about. Stromile Swift came off the bench, rarely played, and was eventually traded after he played a full year. I'd be willing to bet there's no way Ariza is dealt - Battier would go first.

Lol. They have given him an opportunity to showcase him talents. The Rockets have done a few things like this before you know.

Nothing really "New" so I didn't want to start a new thread about it. But it sounds like this one is still on the table possibly.

Yes, and Chris Broussard confirmed last night that Morey is skeptical about the Iggy/Dalembert combination here in Houston. Meaning he doesn't see it being worth that $68 + mill to bring them here.

Plus there is no guarantee that we will get Bosh and even if we do... How much will his extension affect Les being over the luxury tax next year, I'm sure they'll find a way to extend that to him once here.

That's why I say the best bet is for Caron Butler and the other expirings that would come with. We'll have potentially him, Bosh, our role players, and the expirings coming off the books. Not to mention that Mike Miller and Randy Foye are no scrubs on the court themselves. They imo would fit great in our system.

I'm sure Les would not mind paying for Chris Bosh. That's a superstar talent.

You never know. Maybe Butler is part of the trade package for Bosh. One of those three---Butler, Battier, Miller---would have to accompany either Scola or Landry (and who knows what contracts) to Toronto.

Very interesting. I didn't know we had interest in Noah, although given how we start a 6'6" guy at center I guess I really shouldn't be surprised. Great athlete, very good PnR defender, runs the floor well, ton of energy and can block shots. He's a little susceptible to getting out-muscled by legit pivot players but his overall skill set and athletic ability really makes him an option to play both the 4/5 moving forward. Basically, we're talking about a guy that could help as a lot in any situation (right now, with Yao, whatever).

unless you are talking about a three-way (that's what she said?) you can't trade a newly trade aquired player in a combo trade package.

if we trade for butler, we could trade him alone for someone, but not packaged with someone else.

The problem is that this trade puts as near the luxury tax line in the offseason BEFORE counting Scola's new contract. So assuming the Rockets resign Scola to ~$7-10 mil a year, and then add a MLE, we'd be in ridiculous luxury tax hell.

So in essence, Iggy has to be worth Scola + MLE level player for Morey to even contemplate the deal. That, and the possibility of pawning off Dalembert next offseason for a player actually worth his $12 mil contract.

I'm pretty sure Morey will only do the Philly deal along with another trade. Or if the Sixers add enough incentives for Morey to take on the Dalembert deadweight for a season.

Scola would most likely be used in a Bosh trade, so that doesn't matter.
