The only guys that we can let go of are the players Morey decides to trade.
    In Morey We Trust.

That's his opinion and yours too. I respectfully disagree with it.

    This is just a smokescreen.

    Morey is a genius.

What he has done is said to the whole league before February "We can get Iggy for Tmac...you other guys need to step up" and Rox will continue to talk to the 6ers and other teams are going to have to understand we are not going to take on their bad contracts just to get rid of Tmac, we need to get a good player in return.

Eventually, I think if the Rockets want to get Iggy withoug giving up another important young player, they are going to have to eat Brand or Dalembert. Which I have no problem with. I'd rather it'd be Sam because his is only 2 more years and he actually addresses a need THIS YEAR and can play a big role on this team right now...and comes with IGGY. IDK why the Rox wouldn't take this deal right away when asked...

But I know why, because they want to show the other teams they are going to have to give up more than friggin Eddy Curry or J'Oneal.

    This.

If I were Morey, I would hop on the Iggy/Dalembert trade so fast it would make your head spin. Thank God Im not the rockets GM and Morey is a demi-god.

If you get Dalambert you could flip him to Sacremento for another sometime you might want.

Or you get Sac involved from the get go as a 3rd party and never even take on Dalemberts contract.

I proposed this earlier (but named Portland instead). I would only do this if we landed Speights as well. Speights is young (21) and we could use him for a while.

Obviously this would make it incredibly difficult for us to resign Scola, Hayes and Lowry - but oh my god. I would LOVE to add both of those guys to this team. Okafor would give us that shot blocking presence we would need. Iguodala would give us a better offensive wing - and both are hard-nosed defenders with a good work ethic. They'd fit well on this team.

I'm not sure New Orleans would be interested in essentially swapping Okafor for Dalembert and a 2010 late round first pick - but I guess Dalembert has a considerably shorter contract and might be easier to move in trade?

It was rumored that Sacramento was interested in Dalambert...

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
Rockets get: Iggy, expiring contract= Kenny Thomas
Kings get: Dalambert, Royal Ivey since they trade beno they need another PG, and Brian Cook.
Sixers get: TMac and a true point guard in Beno Udrih (the Sixers have been looking to acquire a "true PG" because Iverson and Lou Williams aren't considered "true PGs"

    thoughts????

I think some of you overvalue Sixers players. There is a reason their record is what it is.

I would only include it for someone who could fit in the long-term with our young guys, otherwise no way. I wouldn't give it up for Caron who would only be useful in the short term. I admit initially I was willing to use it for him, since it will be almost certainly used in any trade, but I changed my mind because of my concerns with his health.

I'm not sold on Iggy either, even though he is likely to be better than anyone we can get in the draft. I don't think he will be able to shoot well or play in the half-court. He is overpaid, and has a long contract.

Since we lost Bob Sura in 2004 we have had on our team,
    Luther Head
    Bobby Jackson
    Mike James
    Kirk Snyder
    Vassilis Spanoulis
    Jon Barry
    Derek Anderson
    Rafer Alston
    Rick Brunson
    Richie Frahm
    Stephen Graham
    John Lucas
    Andre Barrett
    Reece Gaines
    Jim Jackson
    Brandin Knight
    Tyronn Lue
    Moochie Norris
    Rod Strikland
    Charlie Ward

Which ones of the above would you replace Lowery with? Seems like we have had a bunch that can't cut the MUSTARD!
It took awhile to find a good combo that works, less not think that Lowery can easily be replaced!

I know that DD will think Vassilis Spanoulis is all that but he didn't ever hit the fllor long enough to prove it. :)

Let's take a breather from the debate for a moment and look how Philly players affect our roster:

Dalembert -- makes Andersen or Hayes expendable.

Speights (a PF who can play center) -- makes either Scola or Landry expendable.

Young (a SF who can play PF against Josh Smith types) -- makes Battier or Budinger expendable

Iggy -- (a SG who can play SF on occasion) -- makes Ariza or Taylor expendable.

Holiday -- (a PG who can play SG) -- makes Lowry or Brooks expendable.

Philly wants to move Dalembert for anybody. Their young talent is the bait. Now, the Sixers do not want big contracts so Scola and Landry are desirable because of their skills and modest contracts. Battier and Ariza have sizable mid-level contracts so they are not so desirable. Budinger and Taylor have small contracts, but Budinger has talent and upside to boot. He is too valuable to lose without some major return. Lowry is a hometowner and has skills Philly desperately needs. Brooks offers the same upside but without the "roots." Hayes and Andersen also have relatively small contracts and can be of help but really are throw ins.

Basically, those are the players in the Philly / T-Mc sweepstakes. If draft picks are included, I would hope Morey can figure out how to swap our #1 with theirs. That would be sweet.

IMO, the only players that don't make ours expendable are Speights and Holiday.
    Brooks or Lowry > Holiday
    Scola or Landry > Speights
