In 59 Philadelphia voting divisions, Mitt Romney got zero votes

It's one thing for a Democratic presidential candidate to dominate a Democratic city like Philadelphia, but check out this head-spinning figure: In 59 voting divisions in the city, Mitt Romney received not one vote. Zero. Zilch.

These are the kind of numbers that send Republicans into paroxysms of voter-fraud angst, but such results may not be so startling after all.

"We have always had these dense urban corridors that are extremely Democratic," said Jonathan Rodden, a political science professor at Stanford University. "It's kind of an urban fact, and you are looking at the extreme end of it in Philadelphia."

Most big cities are politically homogeneous, with 75 percent to 80 percent of voters identifying as Democrats.

Cities are not only bursting with Democrats: They are easier to organize than rural areas where people live far apart from one another, said Sasha Issenberg, author of The Victory Lab: The Secret Science of Winning Campaigns.

Not surprising - I'm pretty sure "Romeny" wasn't even on the ballot.

Who the **** is that guy anyway? Is somebody trying to elect the town of Rome, NY to the presidency? I know corporations are people, my friends, but I don't believe Rome, NY is eligible to even hold office.

Makes your whole "Romney could win Pennsylvania!" theory even more laughable.

if the state is going to be overwhelmingly towards a specific candidate it really decreases the voter turnout for the other candidate as their votes really won't influence the electorate. Its analogous to democrats in really red texas cities not voting either.

As opposed to Bush level margins of victory? The election didn't even need to be stolen, unlike others that made the temptation stronger.

Mystery surrounds the death of a Republican pollster, recently compelled to give evidence about alleged election fraud in the 2004 election in Ohio, after he was killed in a plane crash.

No - Saddam Hussein consistently got 98-99%. The reason why? If you were wanting to commit fraud, showing the opposition with 0 votes is a horrible way to do it - all it takes is 1 person who voted for the other candidate to come forward and you can show something was amiss. If that other candidate gets a handful of votes, it becomes much harder to prove fraud.

It's telling that not a single person from any of these 59 districts has come out and said "hey wait a minute, I voted for Romney!"

I have a feeling Basso is going to get an ass whooping by the mods soon. It seems as though the anger about his stupid threads has reached a certain threshold.

I saw this. And the Democratic rep for the district says 'Our voters felt like Romney wasnt good for the working man.'

Like those districts have ANY working men who had that thought cross their mind.
