okay. nice win for the cowboys. Local media admits that this win is the first non-fluke or push-over team... or is it? Don't the Eagles stink right now anyway? Let's see the 'boys go .500 over the next six games... My prediction is 6 and 5 after the next six games. It's early folks. Very early.
I normally wouldn't give a coach that much credit for turning a team around, but Bill Parcell's previous track records with other teams is remarkable.
Notice that when the Cowboys are losing, these threads are full of cowboy haters, but when the cowboys win, they get quite typical cowboy haters GO COWBOYS!!!!!
I wish emmitt was still playing for them. Maybe share time with Hambrick like Marcus Allen did at the end of his career.
Umm...I'm still posting even though the Eagles lost so you can take that and shove it up your @$$. The betterteam won today and I'm not afraid to admit it.
I still wouldn't call him overrated. The Eagles are in a slump...big time! Like I said before he has Kurt Warner syndrome.
I'll admit with everyone that it is indeed early...way too early to be thinking about anything dealing with playoffs, IMO. The Cowboys are 4-1, but that was with the "easy" part of the schedule. Besides Detroit next week, which is a road game BTW, they got the Bucs on the road, Redskins at home, Bills at home, Patriots on the road, Carolina and then Miami at home. Then they play each division rival, with 2 out of the 3 being on the road, and they end the season in New Orleans. I could foresee them only winning like 3 or 4 games for the rest of the season. All that said, this team has done much better than anybody thought. Even with Parcells, many experts thought 5-11 would be a good spot for the Cowboys to end up at. The best I heard was like 7-9, and at the time, I thought the guy who said it was crazy. If Dallas could win next week, they could lose every game after that, but according to experts, they would end up with a reasonable record. I honestly couldn't tell you how the team will do. I am not sure how they can go against these good teams. At least they got some confidence and momentum going into the tough part of the schedule. BTW, for those who were curious, Randal Williams's TD was the fastest TD to start a game since 1970, when they started using the clock on the scoreboard or something like that. They should just cut that part out. Makes it sound better without it. Anybody want to talk about those Corey Dillon rumors?
I would love to talk about them, but I've only heard about them on internet message boards. CD seems like a Parcells type 'back. He is an awesome runner and the fact that he is big and physical lends credence to these rumors. That said, I can’t see it happening. After the past couple seasons, I just can’t imagine this type of fortune befalling on the Cowboys. What have you heard? And what do you think the Cowboys would have to give up to get someone like Dillon?
We get quite what? Happy? Mad? Sad? Glad? Please tell us, Don Adams, because we, cowboy haters, would like to know.
Good question. I guess the NFL has a higher risk to pay off ratio. In the NBA, and the MLB (to a lesser extent).. players usually produce whereever they go.. their numbers are solid and you see them perform almost every night.. in the NFL, performance can drop dramatically after a trade (especially during the season) because football is more a team sport than any other.. you have to learn the system and develop a chemistry with teammates.. it's kind of shell shock at first.. as they say.. Better to be with the devil you know than the devil you don't know
03, For you to ask such a trivial question, it is clear to me and everyone else that you want me to type a " ", but that one doesn't count because I put quotes around it. But to answer your question - yes.
I barely heard the rumor yesterday during the game when they said Dillon's agent had contacted the Cowboys. From what I hear, though, the Cowboys aren't that interested. I don't know the whole life story about Corey, but he could be good. I don't want to give up too much for him, after all, we seems to be doing well without him. Plus, we'd have to take on his contract, which IIRC isn't owner friendly. Our offense has been producing pretty good, but I wonder what it could do with a back who could get 4+ YPC. Would really help out the play action passes. Not really a knack on Hambrick, though. He seems to be working hard and had made some pretty nasty blocks. Hmm...maybe Dillon at HB and Troy at FB. All in all, I don't think we'll get him. However, I did read somewhere that the Cowboys WILL make a move, IIRC a significant one, before the deadline. It said maybe not a blockbuster deal, but a significant one. Whatever that means. Wow, I just saw a poll asking if the Cowboys would make the playoffs with the options: miss playoffs, wildcard, division winner, or superbowl. I think only 27 or something % were "miss playoffs" while the rest were in the playoffs. (though 44 was at wildcard.) Pretty weird to see playoffs and Cowboys again...as well as #1 in division and Cowboys beat Eagles.
Here is my opinion of the game and the Cowboys and such: The Cowboys have been collecting young talent over the last couple of years and that has appeared to start to pay off. The problem with the last 3 seasons has been mainly the work environment that these young guys have been brought into. Its sad to say, but the work environment has gone down hill since the Jimmy Johnson years. The ethic has been abysmal. Valley ranch was turning into a country club and guys just were not being prepared to go out and win. I believe that has been the biggest improvement for the Cowboys. They have a coach that will kick them in the a$$ and get them to play to their talent level. I also think Parcells wants "football guys." You know the guys, the guys that bleed football...that grew up with it, that dream about it, and live it. Guys that are born to play football... I think the NFL has been trying to grab physical talent over football talent, and I think that Parcells is a guy that recognized that a guy might not be as physically talented as another guy, but if the less physically talented guy has a nose for football, and plays smart...he gets the call to make the team. Anyways...this young talent has finally had somebody mold them into a TEAM...not just a bunch of players hanging out during the week and going to play a game on Sunday. These guys work and play a team style of ball that makes up for some of the holes in talent they still have. Other observations: QC continues to impress me by good decision making. I know the Offensive Coordinator has made a simpler "step read" offense for him, but his ability to not screw up has kept the Cowboys in the game. I still think the QB position needs to be upgraded and that QC would be a better back-up than starter...kind of a change of pace QB....but I have to admit that he's getting the job done by not screwing up. Troy Hambrick is a tough pounding runner, but lacks the burst that a true half back needs in the NFL. An upgrade to a better RB would really help the Cowboys pound the ball on the ground a little better. Speaking of pounding the football down the field, props to Parcells for not going pass crazy and sticking to the ground game. Really opened up the trick play...as well as leeching the seconds off the clock. I liked the fact that 1st and goal meant 3 tough runs up the middle each time. In the two times it happened, got a TD on one...a better back would have made something happen on the small holes that were happening the second time...would have had a TD instead of a FG. Running the ball effectively KILLS the opposing defense... Cowboys got killed on dropped balls on several drives...not QC's fault...receivers need to hold on and quit thinking about the RAC before they have the ball in their hands. Stupid defensive holding let the Eagles get back in the game on 3rd and ten on the drive that they scored their last TD on. Parcells has cut down on stupid penalties, but their need to be some laps run on that one...almost cost the game. McNabb: The guys is a quality QB. He needs to get out of the game for a week or two and heal. You could really tell by his mechanics that he is beat up and hurting. I think if he got protection and got healed...he'd be back at the top of QBs in the league.
Well he did go to OU But he is a heck of a football player and glad he is on the Cowboys. Reminds me of in between Ronnie Lott and David Fulcher. Not quite as instictive and quick in the passing game as Lott, but bigger than Lott and more instictive than Fulcher. Also, I think McNabb is a stud. The only guy who could do better than him with what he has right now is Vick. I always thought the claim that Manning and now McNabb were not big time players was bunk. Football is a 11 man sport and McNabb when healthy is one of a handfull of the most dominant.
He IS overrated. Koy Detmer was able to lead the Eagles as well, if not better. McNabb cannot make a play that requires getting more than 15 yards. His completion % should be 70% when you consider how many short throws he attempts.
