Interesting point. This is probably why Phil has 9 rings in his coaching career which is
half the length of LB's, who has none and only made once to the final.

Aww, I was going to bring up Pippen too. . . in the opposite direction.

No Phil Jackson. We sold our soul for Pip and didn't work.

Phil Jackson is right on the money.

Larry Brown is making a mistake.

Van Gundy is a pretty good coach for the Rox. Hope we get him soon.

I can't say I ever liked Phil Jackson, I think no other coach in the NBA would have their coaching ability questioned after winning what, 9 rings? But Phil is the ultimate opportunist in the NBA, and if Larry Brown really wants to win that ring, he should listen to Phil. Hey, always learn from the best right?

    what's more difficult?

taking a bunch of scrubs and winning 30-40 games against teams that know you suck

    or

taking a talented team and winning the whole damn nba championship, when everyone is gunning for you

    ?

give phil jackson his props, please.

Give Phil credit for recognizing the truth. We are two yrs away from being at the stage the lakers were at when Phil took over. Any way you slice it the man has 9 rings. I don't like his attitude but he knows how to win.

thank you for issuing him his rightful props. whether you like him or not, to ignore his ability (and results)is ignorant. thank you very much for injecting some common sense in here.

well, before phil took over, lakers can never pass 2nd round of playoff, u got to give phil some credit. he knows how to motive his player and he got respect from them too. he could force steve to read some books, then Steve will finally figure out he can't win championship without throw the ball to Yao. Yao doesn't need to read any book, cuz he already a Zen master :D

I'm not a Phil Jackson admirer, nor am I stating support for the guy. But come on folks; if you want to win you must have capable men first, then you must be able to organize those men. That's a paraphrase from a classic military strategy. PJ recognizes that fact and that's why he has 9 rings and LB has zero. So for all those guys out there who say LB is a genius and that he went to Detroit because that's where he has the best chance to win, you don't understand jack $h1t and neither does Larry Brown.

It would be freaky if Rox win a title next year... Larry Brown probably would shoot himself then...

The question isn't whether or not Phil is right.

The question is why he made these comments. Phil isn't going to say something to the press unless he thinks it will be to the advantage of his team.

So, what does he get out of it?

man, i cant wait for the rocs to face detroit this season so they could show brown what he turned down to. and maybe if we win the championship this season or the next season or so on, that would be the best bash we could give to LB!!!

    yep

it's an ego thing for the 2 of them. They both think they are the game, more than the players.

Phil Jackson said these because we played the Lakers pretty tough. Any team that plays Lakers tough will gain the respect of PJ.

By the way, I still think Rox should beat the Lakers on our 2nd home court game last season. It is bizarre Larry Smith did not double-team Shaq, letting a rookie be worn out against Shaq.
