This is what they wanted since they got DHo. Somebody in the team conspired with the management. hmmmmmmmm....
MAMBA OUT! LOLZ http://hiphopwired.com/2012/11/09/kobe-bryant-issues-statement-on-mike-browns-firing-signs-it-mamba-out/#Gg3wkSCg21uRu0K0.99
What is you Laker/Kobe fans excuse gonna be when Phil comes back and yall STILL LOSE to Lebron in da Finals IF they make it that far? With a starting 5 of Dwight Howard, Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Pau Gasol, and Ron Artest Serious question.
The Lakers have chipped with worse teams than this one. I'm certain that's what's going on in Phil Jackson's mind when we hear in the press that he is "intrigued" or that "his mouth is watering" to coach this current Lakers incarnation.
Its gotta be nice to be Chief Triangle Phil Just sitting back waiting for East coast Mike (Woodson) to struggle so he can take over a loaded Knicks Or wait for West coast Mike (Brown) to struggle so he can take over a super loaded Lakers.
Funny how Bullard is saying it's a done deal and he's picking out his assistant coaches while nobody else has reported it. Inside info or crapola?
Jackson's ability as a coach is about managing personalities, not so much in game strategy, it's why he was so good at keeping superstar teams winning over and over. Getting them to a championship level over and over is a really really hard thing to do, winners often lose their motivation.
If PJ is trying to negotiate whether he travels to all road games and things like that, I don't think he's the best choice for them.
Jackson would take Lakers job if given power http://sports.yahoo.com/news/jackso...RhaWQDBHBzdGNhdANob21lBHB0A3NlY3Rpb25z;_ylv=3
Not saying Phil isn't great. But there are other great coaches who never had the opportunity to coach the talents Phil had. My feeling is, he got lucky getting the Bulls job when Jordan was peaking. (Again, not saying that he rode Jordan's coattails. Just that he was lucky to have gotten that job so that he could do his things.) After that, his resume allowed him to got another enviable job with Shaq and Kobe. The fact that he kept retiring when the going got tough and kept coming back when the team was stacked tells me that what he really loves is not coaching but winning and prestige.
I agree with this...Phil Jackson will solve some problems, not all of them. People forget Dwight Howard is still somewhat regaining his basketball form, while Kobe, Gasol, and Nash are all somewhat passing their primes (past their prime). Another thing is that these players are still getting used to one another. The Lakers have always been having chemistry issues for the last several years. I would have to say it does coincide with a particular superstar/HOF. I'm going to be honest, I never thought this player was anything of great leader or a player that could make other players better.
It's a weird catch-22, because on one hand ... he doesn't have that blackhole in his career, like alot of great coaches have had in sports. While, you often have to wonder is his exploits as a coach are somewhat overrated, because he's never had a team that lacked a go-to superstar or a really good team. It's one thing to build a good program from scratch or take over a crumbling mediocre franchise. Can you seriously award him for better coaching abilities over say Pat Riley, Rick Adelman, or George Karl?
Forgive me if I'm ignorant, as I am a little young. But is Phil Jackson really as good a coach as they say? The GOAT coach? Or has he just benefited from coaching the likes of Jordan, Pippen, Shaq, and Kobe? Has he ever remained with the Lakers when they were going through a tough phase?
He's good at managing personalities. Think of Phil Jackson as Dr. Phil of the NBA, or whoever that guy is on celebrity rehab.
It's hard to say, but the fact is Jordan didn't win anything until Phil showed up and same with Shaq and Kobe. Phil is awesome at coming in and cleaning things up and getting the best out of talent.
