Jackson has always been known as the "luckiest" coach in history, my self included in assuming this.

If he does take this job and get another ring he will in my mind be the best ever.

I've always discounted the Jackson myth due to the quality of players his teams had, but if he goes into this disaster and turns it around quickly i will never again disparage his abilities.

I won't be convinced this is done until I see PJax at the press conference. I really don't think Phil wants this. I think he wants control along with Jeanie, of baketball operations for the Lakers. I think this is a huge ploy to get Jim Buss to move over and make room for him in the Laker front office. However, I do believe he will go through with the Knicks job if he can't get Jim Buss to budge and use it to make a huge cash grab and keep Melo away from the Lakers.

This thing is building up a lot of pressure in Lakerland. The whole "waiting until next week to finalize the deal" business all has to do with that in my opinion. Just think about it. Can you imagine Phil, married to Jeanie Buss, running the Knicks???

Don't be surprised if this thing comes undone. But if it doesn't come undone don't be surprised if any or all of the below happens:

    1. PJax winds up divorced.

    2. Kobe winds up with the Knicks in his last season trying to win a ring alongside Melo.

    3. The Lakers suck for years to come.

    4. The Knicks wind up with their own Big 3 in another year.

it's obvious this is all Jeanie buss' doing. They'll trade anything decent NY can offer (not much) to LA for R.Kelly and Bazemore.

Whoa, they are really paying up the wazoo.

It's all about recruiting free agents (including retaining their own FA, Melo). NY saw Lebron and Bosh go to Miami after Pat Riley showed them his rings and is now trying to do the same by landing a "recruiter." But the only way that free agent players would be convinced things would be different is for Phil, and not Dolan, to have full control. We'll see what happens. NY does have the favorable market and cash, and now has a credible executive (in name at least, he's never actually held this job befoe) but their cap situation and draft picks situation still suck.

    Absurd.

    Typical Knick attitude.

Find a big name and throw a bunch of money at it. You know who they should of hired? Gersson Rosas. You could have paid 5 years, 5 million dollars and wind up with a much much better product down the line.

    What a bunch of morons.

Have you forgotten the two pre-Gasol Lakers teams that Jackson coached?

Jackson nearly knocked off the 2nd seed Suns in 05-06 with Kobe Bryant, Lamar Odom, Smush Parker, Kwame Brown, Luke Walton, Brian Cook, Chris Mihm and Deveon George. That team was absolutely dreadful. That team had far, far, far less talent than the current Knicks roster.

Its no wonder Jackson is on record for saying that 05-06 season was one of his proudest accomplishments in his basketball career.

Dolan is trying to stop that protest that NYers had planned for next week. They have a rally to call for his head
