I don't remember where I read that Yao can get out to another team with the agreement of his current MAX contract. Being not familar with trade rules, but I got the impression that Yao is not really locked up with Rockets. Could anyone explain?
PJ's latest quote regarding Yao and Amare's FA...basically he thinks the front office was smoking crack thinking either would go to LA... "There were a couple of ideas that the club had that I disagreed with, and that's gone by," Jackson said. "Ideas that there would be players that would be centers in this league that may not want to sign long-term contracts with their ballclubs and then eventually be free agents in a couple years did put some restrictions on the direction we were going. But those are really good shots to take. I was in agreement with them, even though I didn't believe those things would happen."
LOL! Let me translate this for those of you who don't want to read all that. Mitch: Phil we think we're gonna go after Yao when he comes up for FA. What do you think? PJ: uh, I'll let Jim take this one. Jim Mora: Yao Ming?! Don't talk about Yao Ming! You kidding me?! Yao Ming?! I just hope Kobe doesn't get arrested again!
That'll make much more sense; In 2002 the lakers were still Shaq Daddy's team and I don't think anyone in their franchise would consider dealing for a top-1 pick but ended up < 10 min court time in the coming season.
You need to look into Rocket history before making a statement like that! You either chose to ignore the facts, or do not know them.
