I don't remember where I read that Yao can get out to another team with the agreement of his current MAX contract. Being not familar with trade rules, but I got the impression that Yao is not really locked up with Rockets. Could anyone explain?

You need to look into Rocket history before making a statement like that! You either chose to ignore the facts, or do not know them.
