Too bad Le$ is so reluctant to admit his errors. Phil Jackson could've had Yao Ming and his tenth title...

And Yao is a money-making machine. His presence gives Les Alexander exclusive access to the Chinese market. The rockets have become such a goldmine that he could care less if Yao got the max, he's already paid himself off in such a short amount of time.

Who do you think has a better chance of winning a title. Kobe and T-Mac, or T-MAc and Yao.

I agree abilitywise Tmac and Kobe is almost at the same level as Jordan and Pippen. MJ is second to none. But either Tmac or Kobe is better than Pippen.

But winning championship is much more than just the indivdual abilities of the players. To answer your own question, you have to ask yourself whether Tmac and Kobe would have the same chemstry that MJ and Pippen had during their championships run. History has proved again and again that the most talented team in the league may not be the one which wins it all. Take a look at the 2003-2004 LA Lakers.

Lakers fans are a shady bunch...in public, they demean Yao and claim how they dont need him and how hes a waste of talent, but deep down they've been coveting him from day 1, even when they already had arguably the greatest center to play the game...is Phil saying that, in 2002, he wouldve much rather had Yao than Shaq? Because for Yao to develop accordingly, Shaq wouldve had to take a huge cut in minutes...Interesting...I always thought that Phil had always been a fan of Shaq, and it was Kobe who he had conflicts with, but by saying he wouldve drafted Yao shows otherwise...

either way Lakers, we have Yao and you dont  ...na na na na :p

I, for one, would love to have Phil Jackson as the Rockets headcoach. He's a championship coach. However, JVG has proven he isn't a bad choice either, although he's far from being perfect.

Remember people almost lynched JVG at the beginning of last season when the Rockets had a miserable start? And later on, people criticized how JVG misused Yao (on p'n'r and chasing after guards) even when we were winning and winning big. He's got his share of criticism.

However, what's really enchanting about JVG is his willingness to change and progress. And his work ethic and dedication to his job is out of the world. Based on what I see, I am willing to bet that JVG will soon win a championship here as a Rocket.

They demeaned Amare after he signed with the Suns too. Some guys said they already have enough offense power from Kobe and Odom so they would rather have someone who plays better defense and rebounds better. They were talking about how a different player Kwame Brown is going to be (cough) and how great Bynum will become (cough cough). I had good laughs when I read their board after they found out Yao and Amare were not going to be a Laker. :D

Why the hell is Phil Jackson saying that now? What's he trying to do?

I always think Phil Jackson has a hidden agenda when he say certain things.

Take over JVG's job? If you cannot beat them, join them. While Yao is very royal, it all business to Les.

Phil Jackson has made it loud and clear how much he likes/wants to have Yao. He was quoted in the "New York Daily News" as saying he would be the perfect coach for Yao.

Phil has been known for his "big mouth", or "honest" with the media since his Chicago days. Plus, Yao is the perfect high post pivot for his tripple post offense, so it's no surprise for him to say those things since it's cannot be considered "violation" after Yao's new contract.

I cant really see any other pieces they had to trade for him. I don't think they woulda gotten a call back if they offered Charvo's package of Odom and a bunch of scrubs.

This is one of the stupidest arguments I hear when people discuss why Yao got the max. On pure basketball on court sense, he has better numbers than a bunch of other non asians who are getting the max. So stop throwing in this bull**** argument because all it does is make it seem like Yao didnt earn his max contract on the court, which according to the numbers in comparison to everyone else, he did
