    Devil's advocate........

Were bashing him because he is a Coach who has confidence he would of won with MJ............

I guess people want him to say...."No your right, the dream would of whipped our asses"

Coaches with ego who has been winning the past 10 years, is not going to sit there and admit defeat..

Kobe and Phil may be douche bags....but deep down inside, I wish our Rocket players showed 10% of the compassion of winning and not admit defeat to any team.

Over Blown quote and he himself said in our last playoff appearance.."Give the some F...King credit" ->>>Rockets

I agree. It's the most infuriating topic that anyone could bring up sports-wise. I'd like to think Phil is just being a confident competitor but he's a f#$king d!ck. That's all this is.

Jordan was arguably the greatest player of all time but Dream was flat-out amazing himself. It's every bit as likely if not more that if the Sonics weren't around, Jordan would be the one with a few less rings. Maybe Phil should be thanking George Karl.

Lakers championship 2 years ago is tainted because Yao couldn't play.

Lakers championship last year is tainted because Perkins couldn't play.

Or maybe they're both tainted because Michael Jordan couldn't play?

Not to mention that game against the Kings that was rigged by the officials.

Considering all his success he could have just taken the high road and not even brought up the what ifs of the situatiion, much less considering the context.

He could have just given Rudy T his props and left it at that, the fact that he took it there shows a lack of class.

Probably should have said "well we lost to Orlando that year with Jordan, so it would have to be on Sega Genesis.."

That was more about trying to deflect criticism away from him and his team.

I never thought Rudy T was a very good coach BUT Jackson's comments are way off base considering Jordan's Bulls lost to Orlando in a season where he put up 55 on the Knicks(in other words, he wasn't out of shape/out of sync)....and I for one am convinced Jordan was probably told by the league that they were going to have to investigate the Atlantic City gambling rumors during the 93 playoffs against the Knicks unless he left the league. I think Jordan left because he knew he might risk losing it all since it sounds like he was a pretty hardcore gambler at that point. Jordan was no doubt aware of how Pete Rose's legacy was tarnished with his gambling scandal and feared that the same might happen to him. We know at least two things for certain about Jordan - he cared about his legacy, and he was absolutely the most competitive athlete alive at the time. The world's most competitive athlete doesn't just walk away from the game at the height of his skills like that - unless his legacy was in danger of being ruined by a gambling scandal.

Ya, I know it's a conspiracy theory but given what we know about Jordan it's far more plausible than the official story that he was losing his love for the game(a game he has to date been involved with his entire life except for those two years) and wanted a new challenge. I also find it completely believable that Stern wasn't crazy enough to risk the standing of the NBA at the height of it's popularity to persecute Jordan on moral grounds - it not only would have cost Stern his job, but would have cost the league and team owners millions if the sport fell into a scandal just as they were making headway into becoming one of the most popular American sports. Stern probably said, "I have to investigate these stories of players in my league - but if you weren't in our league, I don't have to investigate and if you came back later past the statute of limitations for me to investigate, the allegations will simply be a moot point."

...anyway, that's a long way of saying Phil shouldn't be so high and mighty about those two years. I hope when Phil is up on the ballot, Rudy T mentions that Phil never successfully coached a team that had less than 2 top 5 guys in the league(a luxury few can lay claim to). The game is A LOT easier when you only coach the absolute best players.

Phil is a huge troll. He knows how to push buttons.

That being said, that statement still makes me furious every time I hear it from anybody.

The old man is going senile in front of our eyes.

Maybe that's why the Lakers have lost 4 straight.

Never underestimate the heart of a champion.

Phil said the same thing about the 99 Spurs.

Shaq won a title in Miami without Phil.

Anyone know where one could find what the Rockets' all-time record was against Jordan's Bulls?

Nvm, I found it. All time Jordan was 11-13 against the Rockets, 1-5 in the 3 seasons prior to 1993-1994.

The argument was that we single covered MJ with Maxwell and they couldn't do the same thing to Dream.

However, we beat MJ's teams before the arrival of his Madness.

If Dream wasn't a Rocket and say was on the east, Pistons or Celtics of the 80s, the Bulls would be ringless.
