Let me know if you succeed. I have two cars loans and a note that I would like to not pay as well.

Marry someone with good credit and keep everything in their name. All the time I wish I hadn't paid off all my wife's bad debts from before we got married.

I have 2 car loans, a mortgage, and 5 student loans I'd like to not pay. Slowly but surely.

Try to work out a payment plan, maybe graduated payment plan. They should have given you a deferment if you are out of work. If you are working, then you should be paying some a month. Even if its just $50. That shows that you are making an attempt to pay, and it looks much better if you end up in court.

Its not bad. One loan is $2,000, & both me and my wife each had Citi turn half of our loans to the Department of Education, so what was 2 loans became 4.

If you work in public institutions (schools, universities, etc.) isn't there some kind of loan forgiveness program for federally back student loans?

Hell yeah, pay your damn debt.

If it took me 7 years to pay back my loans you shoudl pay back yours.

I HATE people who rack up debt and try to find an easy way out of it.

The big banks did it and it worked for them. How can you fault from someone else from trying.

You're so not alone in this. Think of all the people with families who had to foreclose on their homes. At least you're not in that boat.

Do you have the option of moving back with your parents? That's what I'm having to do to not be in your situation. That would help you to set up a payment plan until you can find a job that pays worth a damn. Although if you're getting sued, I think that means they want it all NOW. Its never a good idea to completely ignore bills and notices. Sometimes just communication is enough to keep them from going the length to sue you. Its costs them money to sue.

I'd say move out of the country until the recession is over. Or as REEKO mentioned, wait until 2012 ;)

Hmmm, on another note, I wonder if places like Aruba, Jamaica, etc. have homeless people?

I don't think anyone answered your question, but no, you are NOT too old to join the military.

What would joining the military help? Are loans forgiven if you serve your country?

Well to be fair, people were buying homes larger and more luxurious than they could really afford. But the banks were giving them loans anyway. The path to home ownership for most people should start with a smaller home, one that needs a lot of work, or a townhome. Not a 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath, 2 car garage home. You have to work your way up. You'd think this would be obvious, but apparently its not.

you should band together with other defaultees on the internet and form a consortium to collectively invade lesotho, grow megahectares of poppies there the yield of which you can sell on to future defaultees across america, and then wash all the cash in wall street banks thereby helping to keep them liquid and afloat so they won't need any further bailouts. you gotta stop thinking like a conventional square and be sharper like a pentagon
