The only thing to now wonder is who is that child... and can they run a football team better than Cal?

McNair paid Korn Ferry $500,000 only to listen to the master of whispers in Easterby.

One thing is clear - Cal aint like his daddy.

Bob would have made that decision himself or at the least never allowed for the optics of a Easterby led decision to materialize if he would have ever tolerated a brown noser like Easterby to begin with. It would have been Bob McNairs call and that would be that.

Cal looks around for help when he needs to go to the bathroom.

Casario might be good. If they hire a good coach, I’ll wait and see. The good thing is Cal doesn’t want to be the face of the franchise or involved in day to day decisions. If the current front office team ends up working well, it’ll be better than having a hands on owner.

Actually Bob used search firms all the time... and brought in former coach consultants prior to making hires (remember Dan Reeves?).

Pretty sure O'Brien was a search firm recommendation. Also pretty sure not firing Kubiak but forcing him to accept Wade Phillips was an outside recommendation as well.

Bob, however, would likely not allow one person to unilaterally change his mind or ignore search firm findings altogether. As it is, Cal apparently listened well enough to the search firm to offer the job outright to Kahn.

In the end, Cal is the problem... Easterby is a virus for sure, but Cal will simply attach his shortcomings onto another virus if Easterby leaves.

I'm starting to wonder if Cal just don
He's like that movie trope where the fat rich kid don't have any friends and gets manipulated/used by others because he thought they were his friends.

Yup I remember. My point is that Bob was smart enough to listen to smart people, but he understood how accountability worked so HE ALONE at the end would be the guy who made the hire or even a firing. If he spent that much money he would have wanted a ROI.

Rumors that Khan would have scrapped Easterby and then Jack running to Cals house to beg for him to either keep him around or hire Caserio (knowing Caserio wouldnt fire him) - its the worst manifestation of self preservation imaginable and the definition of toxic workplace.

To shell out half a million bucks and then have your mind changed so easily by Jack freaking Easterby?

    Yeesh.

When you're getting paid $3+ million a year to do absolutely noting that can help a football team you'd do everything in your power to keep the job too hahaha. I had to look up his salary and am just stunned at how much this guy is making.

For the record, I don't believe this reporting at all. It reads like wild fan fiction. So Cal McNair agreed to hire Khan and was negotiating a contract with him and that didn't leak AT ALL and then Jack Easterby came running to his house crying and Cal decided that he had to save poor little Jack's job so he hired someone else? Because lord knows Cal couldn't force anyone else to keep Jack Easterby around.

    I don't buy it.

He wouldn’t say too much, total professional.
Just said his brother really wanted the job, thought he had it. Was about to get on plane and told they went another way.
Wouldn’t answer the question about Easterby being discussed or the plans for him.
The brother might not have known the answers too, but the feeling I got is if he did he wouldn’t disclose that info.

So what do you think happened? Caserio from the beginning before the start of the search committee?

What does Jack Easterby really do?

Serious question. He talks to players about life?

With everything that has transpired since Cal has taken over, I have a hard time buying that it did not go down exactly like this.

It would be pretty damning evidence if Omar Khan responds and confirms that, at the very least, he was a finalist for the GM job imo. Of course I'm thinking Khan is a professional and won't even want to tie himself to this mess....unless he was the one that provided all of this information to the media in the first place lol .

McNair has wanted to hire Caserio for atleast two, maybe three years.

BTW, Cal listened to Dungy who told him to throw away Porny Fairy's list and hire who Cal thought was the right man for the job.

Right or wrong I'm just glad Cal made this decision without p*rn Fairy's advice. You know the same p*rn Fairy who brought them six years of BOB.

I watched the Texans and not much more NFL football than that. I did watch quite a bit of college football.
