we know the win against denver doesn't count because Manning wasn't himself yet. The Texans winning was evidence of that. Oh, and Baltimore doesn't count because God went fishing and didn't answer Ray Lewis's prayer.

Completely agree with everything... in fact, even if the return is minimal (eg, 4-5 round pick(s)), you have to do it, if only to focus on one of them and open the roster up to the next possible future direction.

I think its a bit unfair to make the Brees comparison looking only at last year. But since you want to compare Brees and Schaub, what are their W-L records against playoff teams over their entire careers?

btw, I am not screaming for Schaub to be traded... but, this is his last season if we don't make it to the AFC championship game.

God, I just want the anti Schaub people to shut up. These are some of the dumbest conversations on the internet.

Yes, Schaub had a rough end to last season...outside of those handful of games, he has played at a very high level during his career as a Texan. Yes, he cant throw a laser 50 yards downfield...guess what? He can certainly throw the ball harder than Peyton can. Yes, he cant run at all....guess what? Brady and Manning look hilarious too when they try to run.

Schaub has his deficiencies...but he is a smart QB, he throws accurately, and he is a good fit for Kubiak's offense. Other than 8 or so guys in the NFL, the Texans would not be better off with another QB. It would be nice to have an elite QB, but that would be nice for about 28 other teams as well.

Drew Brees, Big Ben, Eli, Romo, Cutler, Newton, Rivers...where were these guys last season? Did any of them take their teams further than Schaub?

I cant wait until the Schaub era is over, just so I can watch those same people b**** about the next QB that takes over. It'll be the same crap all over again. Once people figure out that there is more to winning in the NFL than QB play, then they will realize that when you have a solid QB, you can point to other areas of improvement.

If you want to point to stats, Schaub is a top 10 QB in the NFL. If you want to look at results on the field, W-L, etc...then Schaub is a top 10 QB in the NFL. But no, let's not focus on the areas of the team that truly need help for us to get over the top...

Back on topic with the thread...I think both of our backups are solid. I like the potential of Keenum more than Yates. I also think Yates can command more in the trade market right now. Therefore, I'd be up for dangling Yates out there and having Keenum as the back up. As far as compensation for Yates...I think a 5th rounder is most likely, although I would hope that a desperate team would throw over a 4th rounder.

What is stupid about it? Did you see the pass daniels had to hold up for? More and more passes behind receivers. andre is being limited

I'm not reading this whole thread, and I'm sure it's been said but even though it wasn't against starters Case Keenum was extremely impressive last night.

    This team's depth is crazy.

Did you see the game against the Broncos? You're telling me that all of a sudden, within a 7 week period, he lost the ability to throw the ball downfield? Is the deep ball his strength? Absolutely not. However, the deep ball is the most overrated thing in football. You know what's more important? Throwing accurate strikes 25-30 yards downfield...and Schaub is excellent in that category.

I'd even extend that to 40 yards but Schaub tops out around 50 ...but even still throws those fairly accurately, at least he completes a good percentage of them. But you're not going to talk sense to these people. These were probably the same group who thought Jamarcus Russell was going to revolutionize the game since he could throw 60 yards from his knees

Strongest arms aren't about dis west coast style life. of course schaub is a system qb, because the best offenses are a system. The strongest arms complete maybe 15 long bombs a season. funny enough schaub has always been top 10 in plays over 40 yards.;)

Time for Schaub to put up or step aside. Too many apologists. Either he can perform at a high level consistently or he can't. Time to go out and "move" the team forward. I want to see more than wimpy throws and running for cover. He has the tools, use them.

Schaub is a top 15 QB, and you're not going to replace him unless you draft a QB. I love that we have depth at the QB position so that we have guys that can take over for a short stretch, but you guys are kidding yourselves if you think that Keenum or Yates can be better than Schaub. He's not flashy, he's probably the least mobile quarterback in the league, but he does a good job at being mistake free and runs the play action pass better than any quarterback not named Manning or Brady. Schaub haters just don't know football.

He's played at a top8-12 qb level for the last 4 years. What more consistency do you want?
