Gucci, Since Amare went down, Tim Thomas has been spectacular. does this mean you are changing your name to "Old Navy"?
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/teams/stats?team=pho&seasonYear=2006&season=3 Tim Thomas is average 15pts/game vs the Lakers and shooting 54% from the field!!
why would i have a headache, i'm giving these suckers headaches cause trying to prove me wrong is like trying do the division on PI.
If the underachieving, unreliable and non-rebounding version of Tim Thomas has got you salivating this bad imagine how much you would love the guy had he lived up to even half of the hype he got??
he's showing he has heart! plus we dont have anyone who can shoot the 3. if tmac moves to 2. we can do this pg alston -disher sg tmac -scorer sf thomas -3pt specialists pf swift -dunker c yao -inside gamer thats a good line up
Another successful graduate from the Isiah Thomas school of Management. Rule #1 - Always judge a player on small sample sizes while ignoring their long history. So what if someone underachieved their entire career, they're playing well for a week and that's what matters. Also, contract years are key determinants for good players. (ala Mo Taylor, Jerome James, Michael Olwakandi, etc..) Rule #2 - Outbid the non-competition for the said player by offering a wickedly gigantic contract when no one else is bidding against you. Rule #3 - Build exclusively through free agency. Trade draft picks. Hell do a sign and trade with Phoenix and give them draft picks so we can pick up Tim Thomas. Just stick to your man-crush, Vernon Maxwell, and forget about Tim Thomas. The guy played well in a system that allows him to play no defense and just jack up open threes. That stuff doesn't fly in a slow stagnant offense that emphasizes defense. (Something he has consistently proven that he is incapable of) Also, the phrase "contract year" just keeps ringing in my head because someone is going to overpay him and get stuck with a guy who shuts himself off like Jerome James.
#1 I dont see Mo Taylor having CLUTCH performances like Tim Thomas is having now #2 his contract is bad, but he got bought out right? that's why Phoenix picked him up. don't act like the Rockets haven't had any bad deals before. you're full of MALONEY. #3 This years draft is weak. #4 you keep forgetting that Tim Thomas was a Knick. Apparently that gets you in the door of the Rocket's regime.
Thomas is one of those guys where you just never know what you're getting. All the talent in the world with no consistency at all. Who knows if you're getting one of his poor 7,8 or one of his on fire 20 points or more kind of performances. He's a good shooter and scorer but he's been pretty unreliable as a starter. He's an average defender at best, poor rebounder and as you've pointed out can only play SF. The problem with that is we want T-Mac playing the 3 and not having to handle the more difficult SG/SF assignment. With Thomas playing the 3 and lacking the quickness and ability to guard opposing SG's you're forced with having T-Mac to do so---which is not ideal. It has widely been established that T-Mac is most effective in this role so it makes more sense to go after a player that can fill this void. Not to mention: a forward rotation of Thomas, Swift and Howard might but the softest and worst defensive forward rotation ever assembled.
Tim Thomas played well with the Bucks.. when they had that Cassell dude. wrong dude. the worst forward rotation was : swift, howard and ryan bowen.
hmmm taking the whole regular season off. hitting big 3pointers in the playoffs sounds very similar to Horry to me. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?statsId=3170 career 3pt percentage: 37% this playoff series: 51% career rebounds/game: 4 this playoff series: 8 career points/game: 12 this playoff series: 16
While Tim Thomas is a good player and waaaaaayyyy better than anything we have at PF position, I think we have to remember that.... Players playing in Mike D'Antoni's system thrive. Players playing in JVG's system usually struggle. I can bet money that even if we were to get tim Thomas, JVG would shoot his confidence so bad that he would look marginal at best. We need to get a new coach with a better system and then go after the players.
well JVG said he wants a 4 who can shoot the 3. TT can do that weather he is a real 4 or not. big 3's have become 4's in todays nba anyway. signing him and v-span would be a great offseason.
