Are PFs are not tall enough? Are you mentally r****ded? Scola himself is 6-10 while other dominating pfs are smaller than him...the pf is one of the few positions we have locked for many years to come

PF isn't the problem, Scola and Landry are good enough, the real problem is the PG.

I think center is our problem. We need a better center, maybe Parkins?

Luis is one of the better PF's in the league. I'd say top 15 for sure. although he's not the most athletic, he's crafty and has a decent mid range game, he hustles and plays smart. he's may not be the best compliment to yao, but he does get the job done.

Landry is one of the better backup PF's in the league and is in his 2nd year...

Hayes is one of the best post defenders in the league on a reasonable contract for what he brings.

we would have won tonight had we played like we can, we just played horrible tonight and played a good team. OKC and MEM are both crap teams, so even if we play bad, we win.

Let's all hope, Denver buys out McDyess and he goes to us. His defense, playoff experience, height, and mid range shooting should really increase our depth in the big man position a whole lot.

After that, I think we should let Aaron start now. Just like Tony Parker for SA, that worked very well for them.

Then let's find a more solid than Rafer. Maybe tinsley??? Any takers?

I read from somewhere he's in great shape, plus he won't have the pressure he had from Indy. He just needs to defend well and distribute. :)

I'm too tired from the excitement of such a great night (besides the game) to write much more than ditto, A_3PO. Geez!

I read in the Boston paper that the Celtics are looking to grab Dice if he becomes available.

If no one else will say it, I will...

If no one else will say it, I will...

I'm a bit shocked honestly. Our PF puts up a terriffic night and we get a thread saying that he's the problem. Brooks has more turnovers than assists and there's a thread proposing we make him the starter. Yao is struggling with confidence and conditioning, there's a thread stating HE'S the problem.

It really bothers me that Ron went 3 of 16. He defended well obviously, but 3 of 16 is unacceptable to me and I'm sure it's unacceptable to him as well. I don't really care if he takes 5 shots or 20 shots. I just care that he makes a good percentage. I'm sure there are reasons (shots not falling, guarded heavily) but those are reasons to focus on other things, take less shots, etc. 3 of 16 is less than 20%.

Ron played very well in the first 3 games, but this 4th game showed me that he needs the ball. I don't mind that. I just think he can do terriffic things off the bench rather than when he's starting. He will lead the bench (and some starters) in scoring, plus we can defensively assign him to certain players. He needs shooters to create space around him and Yao/McGrady don't give him that space at all.

I can't wait for Battier to return because I think we will see Ron's true potential when he is not as bound by doing what Yao/Tracy must do. I 100% support trading for him, and generally speaking, he has performed well. However, I'm just saying that he would be better suited off the bench, and tonight's performance showed that. There are worse things than losing to the champions, and I think we showed that we can beat the Celtics head to head in a Finals series when we're fully healthy.

Artest and Yao had bad games. It happens.

It is not a trend. A trend is when Alston can't buy a basket. And tonight it was compounded by the crap D he played.

PF is NOT the problem, but a backup C with length & athleticism is a legit concern. Nets need backcourt shooters and the Rockets need a young athletic long backup C, sounds like a trade of Head for Sean Williams would be a win-win for both teams.

As for upgrading the PG spot, I would love Hinrich, but that may be a pipe dream, what about either Steve Blake or Sergio Rodriguez from the Blazers?

Landry and Scola can score, but cant defend well.
I saw a survey, and Rafer was the worst starting pg.

Not that good. We don't need a 7' center backup like Mutombo. We need a backup PF who can play 4&5 position. When Yao has foul trouble, we can go small, but we still have a guy to guard the center while protecting the paint. Scola can defend, but his rebounding and blocking is not that good.

Luis is good this game,he and Landry's defence need improve.when Hayes defending KG,KG is limited pretty well at 2qt,they should learn to Hayes, and also PF isn't our problem.PG is,because we lack Battier

Thread title should really be "Backup PF playing C is our problem"

What game were you watching? Scola outplayed KG and was one of the reasons we were in this game.

We don't have any PF issues.

We just need a big man that is long and tall. All that hustle won't make up for the 4-5 inches we give up at that position. A 7ft backup would have easily gotten us a few rebounds.

I think Ron gets a pass here because he played Paul Pierce to a draw. I do agree that 3/16 is unacceptable.

honestly, I would like an upgrade to every one and every position on this game, but that's pipe dream.

realistically our PFs are fine, they are doing what they are doing as well as any PFs our there. You can't ask for KG to play on every team. Our biggest weakness is that we have no backup Center that is big enough and we have a can't shoot starting PG.

I think Morey is looking into this game to find tune our roster soooon.
