geez someone claiming Bogut will be a 5 in this league? I think he'll be a 3 at best. Some analysts think he'll be a 2. Might occasionally be a 4. But a 5? Please...watch some games before making comments like that..

Shelden is alright, but I don't think he'll be all that great at the next level. I'd prefer Simien for what the Rockets need.

Gilchrist is inconsistent and annoying. Not a good enough shooter. I'd rather have Diener 2nd rnd

You can't be serious... Nah, I am sure you are not, so you are OK... as long as you are not serious.

Just in the case of the slightest possibility that you are serious, I've watched Bogut in many many occassions in the past two years, I have no idea, I mean none, that how he'll be a 3 in the NBA. He's a 7 footer with a variety of post moves. He's quick for a center/forward, but putting him at the SF position will get him killed. It's like putting Darko Milicic (well, bad example) at 3. He won't survive the first half of his first game. If you do that, you might just well put Yao as a SF. I have no idea which analysts said that. Mel Kiper? Larry King? Bill O'Reily? Martha Stewart?

If you think you can put him at 2 and match up against Kobe/T-mac... well, I know you are not serious, so I won't even go there.

No way I think he can be a 2 either. Just saying what was said (one of the college hoop announcers recently on ESPN...forgot who)

But I think he'd get destroyed in the post. He's quick, yes, but doesn't really bang all that well. I guess he could be Troy Murphy-esque (a 4 with a J), but that's not an easy thing to master. To be in the right place at the right time to shoot outside and still rebound a lot.

But if he is a 5, I don't think he can play big minutes. If he's a 4, I think it's possible. I think he could easily be a 3. Pretty solid handles for a big man.

If you have a chance, watch Bogut plays. You'll make better judgement from your personal observation than what you heard from "one of the college hoop announcers recently on ESPN...forgot who".

If you watch him, you'll know that Bogut is for real in the paint. In fact, so far, no one in the nation has been able to even contain him there. Okafor manhandled him last year when Bogut was a freshman, but this year he's way better.

Bogut plays almost exclusively with back to the basket, and he uses his parameter skills only when needed. He grabs the rebound like all of them belong to him, and he passes the ball like he's the illegitmate child of Sabonis then adopted by Divac.

I do like Bogut, and I watched him alot and I know what I am talking about. He is infinitely better this year than last year, and he'll be a legitmate force in the NBA. Saying Bogut will be a 3 in the NBA is laughable.

I suggest you watch him on TV, then make a comment. You shouldn't take what "one of the college hoop announcers recently on ESPN...forgot who" said as your sole source of judgement.

    :)

Taft has twice as much talent as any of the guys on that list. With the right coaching, he's a sure-fire All-Star.

Bogut is top 3, no question at all.

I just hope we don't make the classic mistake of grabbing a big guy at the 15-20 draft pick range that's a waste instead of a far more talented and ready forward or guard. We need talent, and JVG has a very questionable ability to develop projects. Consider the fact that the Knicks didn't draft and develop anyone worth a salt in his tenure.

I just want to be sure the pick can actually come in and play for us. That may mean we need to get our 4 through trades/FA and solidify the backcourt with our pick.

If Bogut is a "3 at best" then Shelden Williams is the next Gary Payton. Please tell me that you're kidding.

I'm shocked that anyone would suggest he was a 2. That's like saying Yao's a 2 just because he has a decent jumpshot.

emjohn is right we need the best talent available at the pick instead of going for an inferior player to fill a need.

Bogut is a 4 and 5. There is no way he can keep up with the 3's in the NBA. What in the world are you guys watching?

Trade the pick plus the exception and Spoon to Memphis for a resigned Swift.

one of the previous posters had a good point, i just check over a list of the past drafts, and finding a good PF late 1st round is pretty much non-existant unless its a high school propect (ie. jermaine oneal).

we might be best off going BPA (best player available) unless theres a high school PF available that we could take.

They have us picking John Gilchrist when Daniel Ewing is still on the board. I don't think the Rockets will pass on a local talent this time.;)

I thought I might get that response. Realize that I said "the ESPN announcer" was saying he was a 2. And I didn't agree.

I've watched Bogut a lot. I'm not making up my thoughts based on others...I don't do that. Anyway, not much we can do except wait and see. But I don't see him being a force in the paint in the NBA...just my opinion, based on watching him numerous times and based on watching a million players transition to the NBA.

I`d have to agree, but I`m hoping to get Williams. He would compliment Yao well on the blocks.
