That's certainly a fair point. I meant on the offensive side of the ball, though.

Fine, we can call it two. Even so, I hardly think throwing from inside the 20 leading by two possessions is unheard of, even at 3:18.

Second, there comes a point where running clock just gets ridiculous. I guess it's fine to do it in the last few minutes. But it's a business of entertainment, with 70,000 paying customers. Should teams really shut it down with 10+ minutes left in the game? That seems rather extreme, at least to me.

I agree with you. I also think it's ridiculous to try and short change Brady if he indeed does break the record this year. Peyton had plenty of touchdowns that year that weren't "necessary" to win the game.

Of course. I'm not arguing which one is better. And I certainly am not saying that Peyton has had less offensive talent. That's a dumb theory.

I'm just saying it isn't like Brady is out there with scrubs. I'm perfectly fine with the notion that Brady is better than Manning. I don't watch enough of either of them to say.

Of course he is. He has improved the colts defense but let's face it, they have a whole bunch of no names on defense other than sanders(always injured) and Freeney, Dwight.

and yet i'd argue their defense was reason 1 they advanced through the playoffs to the super bowl last season. i was SHOCKED....but that seemed to be the case.

Yes, defense does win championships. The return of Sanders really helped, but the guy seems to be made of glass (Camby II).

Hard to argue with that after watching the AFC championship game against Baltimore. That was one of the most physical, grind-out football games I've ever seen, and the Indy defense actually ended up outplaying the much-hyped Baltimore defense.

That's what I said ... it was a defensive battle, and the Indy defense won that game.

Whoever was saying that the Colts offensive line was not very good and Manning makes them look better is crazy.

The Indy offensive line has been great for yrs, being anchored by a perennial pro bowler at left tackle in Tarik Glenn. Manning never gets touched, and its not because he avoids the rush. Nobody ever gets near him and when they do maybe once every game, he gets rid of the ball immediately, he doesnt really move around in the pocket very well, not nearly as well as Brady or even Tony Romo.

Brady is the one who makes his average offensive line look great. Even sunday vs Dallas, the Cowboys got to Brady many times, nobody ever gets near Manning.

This is the 1st yr Brady has had a comparable talent level to that of Manning, and he is blowing away what Peyton has ever done.

The Patriots will crush the Colts worse than the Cowboys on Nov 4, again in the playoffs, and Brady will have the TD record, an undefeated season, reg season MVP, and his 4th ring. screw u manning

In 2004 Peyton passed to 21 TDs, when the margin was more than 15 pts, more then was the margin 0-7 (13) and 8-14 (15)

As a talent set, Peyton Manning = Troy Aikman (Except even less mobile and slightly more accurate). Troy Aikman was good enough to win three superbowls with Pro Bowl linemen in front of him and Pro Bowl playmakers around him. Even so, only an idiot would rank Aikman among the best QBs of all time. And when the talent on the line started leaving, he got "exposed". If Manning ever loses talent around him the same thing will happen.

A bunch of no names that carried the Colts to the title last year while the greatest QB ever threw 3 tds and 7 picks....
