What are odds that Manning doesn't play the whole season , the colts get #1 pick and select Andrew Luck to be the future QB after Manning.
I don't see how drafting luck would work, as Manning is signed on for another 4 years after this one. Would Luck bother sitting that long? I guess Rodgers did it...
The Colts could flip Luck for multiple draft picks and vets. Or flip Manning if they think Luck can carry the franchise sooner than later, that may sound like sacrilege right now but it happened to Montana.
Really? What part of their team is even average without Manning? OL is below average at best, RBs are pretty bad and WRs are average even with Wayne/Manning and now we will see if Reggie is truly that good. They've never been good on defense or Special Teams with the exception of Freeney and Mathis and Mathis has a hamstring issue. I think without Manning they are the worst team in Football, rivaled by Cincinnati, Carolina, Buffalo and maybe Washington.
IMO, Bengals, Panthers and 49ers will be worse than the Colts without Manning. We'll see. LOL, for some reason, I think it's hilarious we are debating who will be the worst team in the NFL right before the season starts.
With Painter as the starting QB, they definitely would go 0-16, but with collins, they could win 3 or 4 games.
More and more, I'm expecting an ESPN splash banner: MANNING OUT FOR YEAR Team Announces Additional Surgery on Neck You never want to have an achievement handed to you by a major injury. It'll absolutely slap an asterisk on the Texans making the playoffs or winning the division. Indy without Manning would be pretty dismal - no QB able to hold his own even with a good receiving corps, a tattered OL a mediocre RB that were one of the worst ground games even with Manning keeping defenders out of the box, and a patchwork defense getting long in the tooth (bottom third in points allowed last year). If they aren't the worst team in the league, they'd almost certainly be bottom 5. Saving grace would be 4 games against Ten/Jax, @ Cincy and vs Car. Staring down 4 to 7 wins.
I love how everybody is talking like it's a done deal that the Texans are going to cakewalk into the playoffs. Nothing in the Texans' history proves that they will do anything other than prove nothing. I know it is bad to use double negatives, but it helps get the point across that this team basically went 8-8 three years in a row, handed the head coach a 3 year extension and then went and got pummeled the following season (save for a few games against nobody QB's and a meaningless final game). I get that the other 3 teams will be starting new QB's. But Collins is a proven vet: SB appearance and lead the Titans to a #1 playoff seed. Blaine Gabbert is not a noname Rusty Smith QB: he is a future-of-the-franchise QB, a lot like Mark Sanchez. Be humble my fellow Texans fans. Be humble.
BREAKING NEWS FROM KHOU 11 NEWS 09/07/2011 The Colts announced Wednesday that Peyton Manning will not play Sunday in the season-opener at Houston, bringing an end to his streak of 27 consecutive starts.
