...and don't look now, but Manning is 30, Harrison is 33, and Edge would have about as many carries as Emmit Smith had his first seven years in the league had he not been injured in 2001.

I give the current version of the Colts two more seasons before they start breaking down.

That's why I think the comparison between Manning and Moon is more accurate. Great stats, great W-L record, but never came close to a Super Bowl.

Totally wrong, they will be tied, 0-0.

The evidence is there. College story is consistent as well (see Florida Gators).

    :)

I think Manning is a smart guy with a lot of football ability. But he is not a leader of men and rather than calm the waters in high stakes he feeds the panic in his teammates and plays worse.

Lets not forget the Stealers gave up 38 to the Bengals in a big game like a month ago and 17 to a Palmer less Bengals last week. The Stealer's averaged giving up 16 PPG this season, good, but only two under what the Colts did. The Colts offense deserves the bulk of the blame.

Manning is a choker, but Dungy, though I like him much better, isn't far behind. Cut right from the Marty S and Jim Mora mold. Some guys sack up, other guys shrink, these two just shrink. BTW I am sure his Oline are going to play their hearts out for him next year. Yeah right.

The kicker did choke, and it shouldn't have come to it...Peyton should have brought his A game and he didn't...The guy who picked up the fumble should have scored, but didn't...Dungy was out coached and the OL was horrible...

    The team choked...

Please don't compare Manning to Moon, as that is an injustice to Moon. Moon never had a stud RB like Edge or a stud WR like Harrison. I also never recalled him having those happy feet in the pocket, and believe me...he took plenty of hits in the no FB, no TE run and shoot.

Hell, I could even argue that he didn't have much of a defense...since they gave up a 35 point lead!!!!

This year was Peyton's best chance to win a Super Bowl, with no other dominant team in the picture. The Colts stand to lose some talent this offseason including Reggie Wayne, etc.

Me too... but did Warren ever throw his o-line under the bus?

My resemblance I see is to this guy...

Only difference? Peyton may never see a SuperBowl to lose in.

They didn't look like it to me, but that's not the point, the article says the compare to Dungy's old defenses in Tampa Bay, they're way off on that no matter what the numbers might say.

Dwight Freeney is the only guy that would start on those Bucs defenses, on the other side of an equally dominating pass rusher, Simien Rice, and I still don't see a Barber or Abraham.

    We beg to differ.

    Sincerely,
Pro Bowlers Jeffires, Duncan, Givens, Drew Hill

Please name the AFC defense that gave up the fewest points in 2005.

Harrison = future HOF'er. I don't think any of those Oiler receivers will get 1 vote.

Harrison = more catches, yards and TD's in his 9 seasons than Jeffires (10 seasons), Givens (10 seasons) and Hill (14 seasons) in their entire careers.

Or maybe Pittsburgh was just the better team.

Props to those of you spelling Jeffires correctly. That's solid.

My memories of the great Fab Four (J,D,G,H) fade when I start thinking if Moon was still there throwing to Webster Slaughter and Tony Jones (speedster). I met Haywood Jeffires once. Dang, he was tall.

Good points, Icehouse... but then again, Moon had to distribute the ball to all the receivers and the lack of the tight end was significant in the use of the four receivers to distribute all the passes. I remember Duncan lead the AFC twice in receiving. Manning has 2 main receivers at all time, and most plays will be drawn for a one-on-one match up that Harrison will likely win.

Hell no. To say that Peyton is a choker is absolutely ridiculous.

It took this guy 14 years to win a Super Bowl:

I would say that nobody would call him a loser, or a choker.

but that guy NEVER EVER NEVER had the kind of talent around him that Manning has had.

Elway took very mediocre teams to the Super Bowl...he put his team on his back and beat a much better Cleveland team twice...he beat a Houston Oilers team that was head and shoulders better than his team...he didn't have any serious help on the offense until Terrell. sammy winder?? the three amigos?? he took those teams to super bowls...i've never seen a QB do more with less talent than John Elway. Surround him (at the same point of his career that Manning is at now) with what Manning has now, and he'd already have a couple of rings....in my opinion, of course.

Even if for some reason you thought Elway was a choker early on.

At least he made it to the superbowl and played clutch in big playoff games.

wtf has Peyton done in the playoffs?

    Manning still has time.

Jerome Bettis - 3 fumbles in his last 4 playoff games.

That is true. But how can anyone honestly say any of those receivers were as good as Marvin Harrison?
