I HATE our jerseys so frigging much. They are actually better than the 97-03 ones though but the championship ones blow them away.
Interesting to see this.....brings up a bit of trivia. The original design for our current uniforms was supposed to have the "R" logo above the numerals on the front of the jersey. A few college teams (UM most notably) were doing this at the time Eiko Ishioka designed our duds. The NBA shot this idea down, and the "R" logo was moved to the shorts. P.S. ....do people really think a petition is needed. The Rockets already hear fans on the subject of the championship-era duds. All they have to do is look at jersey sales.
I like our jerseys (save for the UGLY cut around the shoulders) and like the logo. Its more modern. That said, I wouldn't mind going back to the old school style, but wouldn't be bummed if we didn't.
I absolutely LOVE what fredv posted. My change though, would be to take the "Rockets" type out of the logo, and just have our "R" from the current logo in the middle of the basketball. I think that would be a perfect mix of current and championship years. I like the Alternate logo, but I wonder what it would look like with "HR" on it instead of just the H. I also wonder what/how ugly it would look if you used our current silver instead of white...
I'm not alone! I kid. I knew that a few people felt the same. I'm just surprised I don't here as many people say it.
Dont bring back those same actual logo and unis, but an updated form of the color scheme with some needed modern tweaks. Something for the now but that pays direct tribute to the old era. The championship era logo and font is too dated, the current unis while decent are a bit on the bland side. These uni's did have a liiiiiittle potential...The trail of the rocket around the red orb forming the look of a basketball was very clever. Totally remove the pinstripes, lose the rocket teeth, dont metallicize the font too much and it would have been at least on par with the current unis. They just got too carried away with the rest of the crap.
i agree, those look way better than those we have now, and beside history in those jeresy are priceless.
Nice U of H Cougars looks there. I'd definitely go with the Rudy T era unis. Its the best of all these concepts put together. Make the letters more white instead of all yellow like 1st Milwaukee pic, and I'd purchase a jersey. Plus it has a big ol' fat HOUSTON on the front of it
Really like the look of this jersey, but maybe add the new R and change the text/font on the front of the jersey. I think what has to go is those wings/flaps around the arms/shoulder on the current jersey with the two big white stripe things, looks girly (no offense to any girls).
