Tim, So if not Cooper, who is being considered for the color comment position? (I'm for hire, but if you really want a slam dunk, you need to sign Stacie the Sports Chick -- droxford
two things: 1. I think it's kind of funny that Tim has stated clearly several times that Cynthia Cooper is not a candidate for the color analyst position and that he is in charge of those contracts yet people are still saying "PLEASE NO CYNTHIA!". It shows how many people actually read threads before posting. 2. (and more importantly) I really enjoy being able to read Tim's posts. It's amazing knowing that people within the Rockets organization are reading this board and are aware of our thoughts on things. I agree with Gene Peterson in that it gives us a real sense of ownership of our team. That's a great thing.
I think people are replying just in case there is a chance Coop could get the job. Thats how much were are against the idea.
I'll be as honest as I can here. I tried to watch the half time shows, but I felt my intelligence being isulted. Cooper was torchorous to watch. It seemed she was stuggling to get her thoughts accross. It was when I saw Cooper that I realized how good guys like Whorel, Murphy, and Molasky have been. If Cynthia is given the gig, I will not listen to the TV broadcast. And by the way it sometimes is better following it on the radio because you follow the action a second or 2 before it happens. Can someone let Les Alexander know that any advertisement on T.V. will be voided to fans like me who'll be listening on the radio. Hence I won't be paying attention to the TV ad's; which happen to be more expensive than Ad's on the Radio. Cooper was an excellent player but she was horrible at coaching and she's been horrible at commentating.
I have the DirecTV NBA Package. I can honestly say she was the worst on air person in the NBA last season. Her announcing game reminds me of Moochie Norris running a last second play. She wastes time doing nothing before tossing up an airball just before the buzzer.
I would also vote no. Sorry Coop, watching you try to run some halftime commentary makes me feel so awkward and embarrassed for you. Ugh. I can't believe some people actually enjoy her studdering and overall substanceless comments.
since we are talking about this type subject... anyone know what bruce geitzen is up to these days .. curious where his career lead him after he finished his time with rockets
I agree. Matt Bullard is the obvious choice. or heck i'll go for Vernon Maxwell instead of cynthia cooper.
No! Female version of Tim Hardaway behind the mic. Give the job to me. I'm nice around Mics like Scottie Pippen.
While I'll implicitly believe your information, your position does taint your perspective necessarily. Cooper's terrible. We all know it. She's competitive? That's the best we can say of her? Shoot, if "competitive" and "driven" are the primary prerequisites for the position, than a good quarter of Houston qualifies. Add a prerequisite that the person be a local personality of some stature... and there are still a considerable # of possible candidates. And in fact... there's an obvious one - Matt Bullard. Cooper is inarticulate. The ability to convey information effectively, I would imagine, the #1 requirement of any broadcaster. Cooper gets a failing grade in that.
I was wondering (already signed), is Clyde Drexler available? I think he would be a great commentator.. But he might have something else planned out.. I think he should be considered an option..
There is always the possibility he would no-show. He hasn't lived up to his commitments since he retired.
