Seriously, people, why would Tim outright lie to this bbs? He is not an idiot and if Cooper was hired or had been seriously considered after Tim stated she was never a candidate, that would be a really bad PR move by him and by the Rockets. He would immediately lose all credibility here and wherever enough of us would be able to tell others and there would be anger towards the organization from a decent amount of fans. He is still defending Coop as a halftime personality and is discussing her future...as a halftime analyst. Why would he waste his time proping her up for us in that area if it was to no longer be her role (wheras he might otherwise be saying "Coop was not as good at halftime because it is scripted...she IS much better on-the-cuff, where she can discuss the action as it happens" to get us ready for a new position)? Seriously, people like DaDa are either just being jerks or seriously think that Tim is an idiot and doesn't know how to do his job.

No attacking meant at all Tim. Just pointing out your limitations as a bonifide source. Pointing out to people that as a company man you are not able to post personal beliefs, unless they correspond entirely with the company line. If you disagree with this, please feel free to point out examples. I have the same limitations when talking about my business. I have to tow the company line at all times, but that doesn't mean I always agree with it, I just can't let anyone outside the company know I don't agree. Heck, there are tons of things I would like to say about the Video game world, but it is a small world and you never know when you might be working with someone again, regardless of whether you like them or respect their talents or lack thereof. This is a ploy to get more of the people who watch the games on TV to go to the games. If you make the game miserable to watch on TV, fans will be more likely to get their Rockets fix at the stadium. Increased attendance will have nothing to do with TMac- it'll be all about avoiding the TV broadcasts! Pure marketing brilliance.

Tim, What about when the new jersey was leaked? You said that the jersey that Cuttino was wearing in the ad was not the Rockets new jersey. In the end it was. Inquiring minds want to know !!!!!!!!! DD
DD..... As I recall, Tim NEVER siad it wasnt the jersey.......it was a generation or tow off of the real thing. I.E......a prototype....... And he was correct. (correct if I'm wrong here Tim) First off, during this time, Reebok and the Rockets were in the middle of the whole "back and forth" process of trying to create the jersey the Rockets wanted with the correct Pantones requested. So the Rockets couldn’t use the actual jersey in the commercial since they didn’t even have a correct one made by Reebok yet. With the jersey worn by Cat, all the Pantones chosen by the Rockets didn’t correctly match up with what was on the jersey. A big example of that was the silver that was used in the elliptical stripes in that jersey worn by Cat. The silver used in that jersey was much lighter then the pantone silver they choose. Thus to some here, it appeared to look white instead of silver. Also, a slightly different number font was used on that mock up jersey then the actual number font that was actually used. So here.....Tim was indeed telling the truth…eer to an extent. To how much of an extent is your guess though DD, seeing as the "generation or two off" label Tim put on this jersey wasn’t really that far off from the real thing. So I guess to an extent, your also correct on the whole "company line" bit your busting Tim's balls about....... JUST HAD TO NOTE THIS.......This is really entertaining stuff seeing a Rockets "Higher-up" like Tim get "battle-tested" on this Rockets fan forum. And *TIM*, as always, thanks for participating in this fan forum. In most cases, most organizational "higher-ups" employed with sports franchises don’t participate in discussion with their fans. But you have chosen to "buck the trend." And I think it speaks volumes about just how fan friendly this franchise can be. Yes, The jerseys were so unlike the final ones that NBA TV ran that ad all season. I am sure the NBA did not mind a jersey that was not correct on all their commercials. DD
There's something inherently ingrateful about what you're trying to accomplish here. You're attacking the credibility of the VP of marketing for the Houston Rockets by bringin up this jersey issue used by the NBA in a tv spot, which in itself is fairly ambiguous to say one way or another that Tim wasn't being entirely truthful. Based on his history with this BBS, I find this without any merit whatsover. He could have used the responses from fans to merely gauge marketing strategies and leave it at that, but Tim chooses to go one step beyond and actually engage in dialogue with everyone here and he gets labeled as a "company man" and chided for not coming out with the entire truth. Not that he needs me defending him in any way, but I don't think it's entirely deserving of the guy since he doesn't owe us anything to begin with. I'm a fan of a healthy debate session as much as the next person but at this point I'd let it go and just see what develops with the whole Cynthia Cooper extravaganza before continuing onwards with this spiel. end of rant
