The wife, another couple, and I went last night and had a freaking blast. firecat is one cool dude, very talented, and very funny. Anyone wanting to go have a good time should definitely check this place out this weekend. On the way home, everyone was saying how we will definitely be doing that again. Thanks again for the rounds of drinks and breaking out with Bed Intruder for us!
Suddenly, "Howl at the Moon" will be very empty, or maybe just SpaceCityKid will show up to get his money from YDS. Spoiler How's THAT for a SwoLy sight?
The wife and I are having an anniversary in a couple weeks and we were thinking about checking out firecat's piano bar. Sounds like a good time and I've been wanting to go for a while.
It was great having you out the other night. I had a great time this weekend. It just took a full day of recovering. If anyone ever wants to come out to Pete's in Austin someday, bookmark this thread and you can always get in touch with me. I'll be happy to put you on the guest list and buy a drink or two (or more). I know the GM very well in Houston, so I can probably get you on the list there as well with enough notice. I'll also give a heads up next time I play down in Houston.
Don't drink alcohol, but this sounds like a pretty cool idea to me... Is it worth a ticket if I don't drink? Along similar lines- any free tickets for Houston one?
My uncle came out the other night and he doesn't drink but he had a blast. If you don't drink but you like to have a good time and watch other people make fools of themselves (mostly the piano players) I think that you would enjoy it. Whenever you want to go, send me an e-mail and I'll get in touch with the GM and have them put you on the list. My e-mail is johnkingtx@gmail.com.
is it as good as this? <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/6H9f8qUrF6w?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/6H9f8qUrF6w?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
Unfortunately, I wouldn't know any piano teachers in the Houston area. I don't even know if I would know a good one here in Austin if someone asked me.
Went to the Houston Pete's last night with my wife. It was our 5th anniversary, but we were a little gun shy about getting embarrassed on stage so we didn't inform the piano players. Firecat, one of the guys playing last night was from the Austin location but I don't think it was you. Can't remember his name, though. He was pretty funny. Overall, it was a blast and we will definitely go back soon. I highly recommend it. Edit: I'd also like to point out how impressed I was with how talented each player was. Playing multiple instruments, ad-libbing on the fly and infusing everything they did with little bits of humor (sometimes huge bits). It was simultaneously hilarious and impressive. I can't imagine there are too many guys in any given city who have the necessary combination of skills to do what you guys do.
