Sorry that a discussion about how we can honor a dead child is distressing for you. Here's some advice: don't click the thread.
Like no matter your political stance... you can't really argue against his heroism... so I don't see how there can be complaints. But I'll chip in as needed.
I would love to participate in this thread and the cause but it's not garm fool. Rules are rules unless there not but be prepared for an influx of non-garm, heart tugging, good cause, threads, peppering the first page of the garm.
What bravery this kid had on him. He held the door open for others in a time when confusion and fear was at its highest. Glad there are people like that.
In all seriousness, if CF could make this happen, it would have to be up their with what i believe is Clutchfan's proudest moment. Let's make this happen!
Well the description of GARM says the following: Anything and everything about the Houston Rockets. Your comments from last night's game, potential roster moves, player quotes and pictures. Hell, the slower people in the group can even talk about ex-Rocket Tracy Murray. That's all I say about arguing the appropriateness of the thread. In any case, we should celebrate heroism, yet mourn the loss of youth.
If Matthew McConaughey can have a GARM thread, because he said he was a Rockets fan, this hero can, too. Let's not derail a thread that Clutch validated by posting in, anyhow. But I suppose you won't be able to resist defending yourself now, right?
My epic Maxwell / SixNine thread in the hangout should be here. In all seriousness. I’m in as well. Lets come up with any cool ideas we can. Rockets fans = Family.
I'm a lifelong Rockets fan and a long-time lurker on CF. @yoeddy thanks for sharing this. I teared up reading about this kid. It hit close to home because I am Asian, and while I never had any military aspirations, my father had them for me and wanted me to go to West Point. I took the initiative of creating a gofundme - https://www.gofundme.com/cf-for-pwang. @Clutch - let me know if the Rockets org comes through. I'd love to draft of them because I'm sure they have more resources to get the contact info for the Wang family.
eh... i don't really care about defending myself. i just gave my opinion on garm and how i use the garm. garm is an escape for me but i don't speak for everyone. this kid and his story are awesome and it doesn't matter how i use garm. anything positive that can happen for him and his family would be amazing. that's my last word on the matter.
Not sure it's a good idea for anyone other than Clutch to start a fund where they are controlling money donated by cfnet members. Certainly not someone with 4 posts. Hate to put it in those terms, but this isn't a fund for you to manage, as many won't trust you, thus even if you're the most trustworthy person on the bbs, you wouldn't garner maximum positive affect, anyhow. Best for us to know our role. Let the Clutch's of the world do that.
@heypartner - totally understand, no offense taken. I was just moved. I'm happy to transfer ownership of the gofundme to @Clutch so this can have maximum impact.
